The Escambia County High School Big Blue Machine hit a speed bump on Tuesday night in Hillcrest. Senior Jeremy McCants is still out of the starting line-up but Quartez James did manage to play in the game. "Quack" scored 17 points in the loss.
The leading scorer, however, was senior Larenzo Arnold with 18 points to go along with a few assists. Calvin Hartley added 12 more points, although Atmore lost 79-68. "We've been hit with the injury bug," added coach Brown. Although ECHS has dropped a couple of games recently, the season is far from over. Coach Brown is hoping to have his team completely healthy before they play their area games. Area games start on Friday, January 7.
Despite the 11-point loss to Hillcrest, Atmore with an 11-5 record, could make up some ground with Jeremy McCants and Quartez James both possible for the Friday night game. "It will be a game time decision," the coach said of the possibility of McCants' and James' return to the starting line-up.
Atmore has two games over the weekend so look in the Wednesday edition for scores and highlights.
