The Escambia Academy Cougars came into last Friday night's game with the Clarke Preparatory School looking to gain redemption after last Tuesday's big loss to Faith Academy.
In the end the Cougars had what they wanted, a victory, but still had a sour taste in their mouths.
The Cougars took the road win 48-39. Zack Thomas led all scorers with 19 points and Nick McGhee contributed 10 for EA.
Chad Dickinson led Clarke Prep with 14 points points.
Jason Allen, head basketball coach and athletic director, said that while it wasn't perfect, a win is a win.
"We didn't play as well on defense as I thought we could have," Allen said. "It was a good region win for us, though. We found a way to win even though we weren't shooting well, and that's very important."
The win put the Cougars in excellent position to win their area championship.
"If we can beat Sparta on Tuesday night we will be in the driver's seat, but we can't start looking ahead," Allen said.
The Cougars game with Sparta Academy was incomplete at press time.
The Cougars will travel to face Jackson Academy this Friday night.
