Walter Robert Rose
BREWTON – Mr. Walter Robert Rose, 65, passed away March 22 in Brewton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on March 24 from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Chapel with Pastor Don Cox and Pastor Donald Wilson officiating. Graveside services will follow in Walnut Hill Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Rose was born July 28, 1939 to the late William Robert and Alice Mae Benadixon Rose. He was a Bio-Technician Engineer with D.W. McMullan Hospital and a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran.
Mr. Rose's wife, Mary Francis Rose, preceded him in death.
Survivors include six sons, Kenneth Ray Rose of Florida, Ronnie Eugene (Sharon) Rose of Atmore and William Robert (Elizabeth) Rose, Charles Michael (Alison) Rose, Steven Wayne (Tammy) Rose and John Edward (Melanie) Rose, all of Brewton; two daughters, Debbie Ann (Grant) Kirk and Alice Marie (Davey Ray) Grantham, all Brewton; one brother, Charles Michael Mellow of El Paso, Texas; brother-in-law, William Jessie (Gracey) Guy of Excel; three sister-in-laws, Betty Marie Nelson of Pensacola, Fla., Ellen K. Kutzer of North Carolina and Mary Guy of Monroeville; 28 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on March 23 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Willie Mae Jenkins
GULFPORT, Miss. – Mrs. Willie Mae Jenkins, 86, passed away March 18 in Gulfport, Miss. Funeral services were held March 21 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Rushing officiating. Graveside services followed in McCullough Cemetery.
Mrs. Jenkins was born in McCullough on Feb. 5, 1919 to the late Joseph M. and Beatha Neal Hall. She was a retired seamstress with Max Smith Garment Co.
Mrs. Jenkins' husband, Lee Cleat Jenkins, and one sister, Mable Marshall, preceded her in death.
Survivors include one brother, Marshall (Doris) Hall of McCullough; three nephews, Rodney (Sheila) Hall of Atmore, Ronald (Frankie) Marshall and Donnie (Sharon) Marshall of Flomaton; five nieces, Shirley Baylor (Johnny) Rushing of Atmore, Sarah (Mike) Ward of Mobile, Rita V. Watley of Atmore, Rebecca (Robert) Arnold of Midland, Texas and Shirley Beck of Dothan, a special great-nephew and niece, Tommy and Lela Young; CNA home caregivers and numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers were Rodney Hall, Donnie Marshall, Tim Walker, Dywayne Hadley and John Flowers.
Honorary pallbearers were Michael Ward, Tommy Young, Christopher Hall and Robert Arnold.
Family received friends on March 20 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Elizabeth Ann (Adams) Bowens
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Elizabeth Ann (Adams) Bowens, 62, passed away March 11 at her home in Pensacola, Fla. Funeral services were held on March 19 from Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Atmore with the Rev. Willie Hawthorne officiating. Graveside services followed in Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Bowens was born Feb. 12, 1943 to Mr. Willie M. and Alberta R. Adams in Atmore. Early in her life she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at the Greater Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Escambia County Training School, graduating in 1960. She moved to Los Angeles, Calif. in 1962 where she lived until she relocated to Pensacola, Fla. in July 2004.
Mrs. Bowens' parents; one brother, Matthew Adams, and one sister, Lillie Mary Johnson, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 43 years, Mrs. Julius Bowens; one son, Jonathan Adams Bowens of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, McEary Lanise Bowens-Gales of Cypress, Calif. and Felicia Aleta Bowens of Inglewood, Calif.; three grandchildren, Keano Jamal Gales, Lynden Marcelas Bowens and Kieara Dupre Washington; five brothers, Willie G. Adams of Atmore, Love D. (Gertha) Adams of Atmore, Thomas L. (Ruthie) Adams of Pensacola, Fla., Kenneth G. (Sharon) Adams of Atmore and Mr. Leon C. (Dorenda) Adams of Montgomery; a very carrying mother-in-law, Della Mae Scott of Atmore; seven sister-in-laws, Audrey McDowell and Gwendolyn Roberts of Miami, Fla., Carolyn Payne and Theleatha Wilson of Trenton, N.J., Myrtle Bowen and Mary Arnold of Atmore and Leola Knight of Pensacola, Fla.; two brother-in-laws, Deacon W.G. (George) Johnson of Atmore and George Riley of Detroit, Mich.; a devoted friend, Majorie Craddock of Los Angeles, Calif.; two special friends, Emma Johnson Thomas of Atmore and Annie Ruth Johnson of El Paso, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Active pallbearers included Mrs. Bowens' nephews, cousins and Robinson Funeral Home staff. Honorary pallbearers included Willie M. Adams, Lovie D. Adams, Thomas L. Adams, Kenneth C. Adams and Leon C. Adams.
Louis Parker Sr.
ATMORE – Mr. Louis Parker Sr., 72, passed away March 20 at his residence. Services will be announced by Turner Funeral Chapel at a later date.
John F. "John Boy" Hendrix
BLUFF SPRINGS, Fla. – Mr. John F. "John Boy" Hendrix, 47, passed away March 21. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on March 24. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Eastside Chapel.
