Despite pressure from the parents of a dying woman, the governor of the state of Florida, President George Bush and more-than-half of the house and senate, U.S. District Judge James Whittemore still denies appeals to replace Terri Schiavo's feeding tube.
Schiavo's parents have tried appeal after appeal just to get the tube reinserted until the judge can consider the lawsuit they have filed.
They appealed again to the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta and that court, too, held up the decision to allow Schiavo to die.
Michael Schiavo, Terri's husband, agreed that she had no hope of recovery and said that Terri would not want to be kept alive artificially with no hope of recovery.
If Terri really didn't want to be kept alive artificially then it is wrong to make her suffer any more than she has to. If she still has consciousness then her death is a murder. That is the argument of her parents and the government.
Either way, the fact remains that she is slowly starving to death. Her body is wasting away and the nation is taking its time debating the issue.
Assuming Terri has even a shred of consciousness she is suffering a living hell as her body destroys itself from the inside.
For the sake of the souls of all involved let us pray the right decision is being made.
