Louise O. Watson
ATMORE – Mrs. Louise O. Watson, 87, passed away April 5 in Bay Minette. Funeral services were held April 8 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Fred Brown and Bro. Don Davis officiating. Graveside services followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Watson was born on May 16, 1917 to the late Shemaon Harrison and Mattie Lavonia Cook Owens. She was a teacher with Escambia County Schools for 28 years. She was a member of Presley Street Baptist Church and an inactive member of Alabama Retired Teacher Association.
Mrs. Watson's husband, the Rev. L.J. Watson; one sister, Angelene Robinson and one grandson, Robert Bryan Watson, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, L.J. (Betty) Watson and Bennie (Linda) Watson, all of Atmore; four daughters, Minnie Lou (Jimmy) Guin of York, Marjorine (Harvey) Lisenby of Atmore, Jeanette (Tommy) Tate of Mobile and Linda (David) Daniel; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; four nieces and one nephew.
Active pallbearers included Keith Watson, Matt Watson, Jason Guin, Burt Guin, Kenneth Brown, Scott Brown, Heath Tate and David Daniel.
The family received friends on April 7 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Dwight Dowling Godwin
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Mr. Dwight Dowling Godwin, 48, passed away April 6 in Pensacola. Funeral services were held April 9 from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Chewning officiating. Graveside services followed in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Godwin was born Nov. 25, 1956 to Roy D. and Bobbie June Ward Godwin. He was a former resident of Oak Grove, Fla., graduating from Ernest Ward High School in Walnut Hill, Fla. He also attended Faulkner College in Bay Minette.
Mr. Godwin was employed by International Paper Co. as an electrician. He was the treasurer for the local 1937 IBEW union. As a young man, he was very active in 4-H and FFA. He was state winning in 4-H public speaking when he was 15-years-old. He loved to fish and hunt, and spent lots of time in the woods and on the river with his family.
Mrs. Godwin's mother, Bobbie June Ward Godwin, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Judy White Godwin of Pensacola, Fla.; two sons, Justin Eric (Crystal) Godwin of Pace, Fla. and Jake Tyler Godwin of Pensacola, Fla.; one grandson, Tyler Brent Godwin; his father, Roy (Marvette) Godwin of Oak Grove, Fla.; four brother, Doug (Vicky) Godwin, Lamar (Rene') Godwin and Ryan Godwin, all of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Mark Dean (Denise) Godwin of Bratt, Fla. and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers included Bobby Mason, Billy Lee, Duke Lee, John Mayo, Ken Born, Earl Lewis, Jack Brooks, Darrell Bowman, Danny Fuller and Don Godsey.
Honorary pallbearers included Ricky Fore, Randy Fore, Steve Godwin, Bill Eubanks, Mark McClain, Glen Key, Jeff Dennis, Tony Wilson, Derrick Wilson, Steve White, Ashley Dupree, Kenneth Reed and Edward Albritton.
The family received friends on April 8 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Darrin DeVon Moore
RICHMOND, Va. – Mr. Darrin DeVon Moore, 37, a native of Atmore, passed away March 26 in Richard, Va. Funeral services were held April 6 at New Beginnings Holiness Church in Atmore with the Elder Tommie Thomas officiating. Graveside services followed in Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Moore was born April 5, 1966 to Deloise Graham and the late Odell Moore.
Mr. Moore's grandfather, John Beverly, and grandmother, Mrs. Cornelius Moore, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his parents, L.C. and Deloise Graham of Perdido; two daughters, Sabrina Denise Moore and Chevonia Debra Ann Moore both of Fredericksburg, Va.; two sisters, Cassandra Elaine Cunningham of Atmore and Aretha Ann (Gary) Matthews of Oxford; a stepsister, Ms. Gwen Graham of Jacksonville, Fla.; a stepbrother, Mr. L.C. Graham Jr. of Pensacola, Fla.; grandmother, Mrs. Luevedia Henderson of Atmore; seven aunts, Ms. Judy Henderson of Milton, Fla., Mrs. Mary L. (Bobby) Riley, Mrs. Alice (Ester) Daily, Mrs. Loree (John Edward) James, Ms. Helen Moore Davall, all of Freemanville, Mrs. Darnell (Lynzo) Rollans and Ms. Sue Moore, all of Hollandale, Fla.; four uncles, Mr. Roy Henderson of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. McArthur Henderson, Mr. James Authur Moore and Mr. Jackie Moore, all of Atmore; two nieces, Mrs. Jimmekia (Michael) Weaver and Miss Lashetta Cunningham; a nephew, Mr. Jimmy Cunningham, Jr.; a great nephew, Master De'Andre Weaver, all of Atmore; a godmother, Ms. Barbara Ann Dailey of Atmore; special friends, Marsha (Chris) Vangura, James McDonald, Tonya Lee and Alfonzo Davis and a host of other cousins and friends.
Active pallbearers included Vincent Henderson, Jimmy Cunningham, Michael Weaver, Gernaro Henderson, Gary Matthews and Alonzo Riley.
Flower attendants included family and friends.
Ed Johnson
ATMORE – Mr. Ed Johnson, 82, passed away April 1 at his residence. Funeral services were held April 9 at Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Atmore with the Rev. Joe Hayes officiating. Graveside services followed in Stallworth Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson, known as Buddy Lock, was born June 1, 1922 in Pensacola, Fla. to the late John and Estelle Locklin of Pensacola, Fla.
Survivors include one brother, Leo (Rose) Johnson of Pensacola, Fla.; three sisters, Annie Ruth Allen, Myrtice Lewis of Pensacola, Fla. and Eva Mae Thomas of San Antonio, Texas; a very special friend, Mrs. Sarah Edwards and a host of nieces, nephews and family.
A memorial service was held on April 9 at Robinson Funeral Chapel in Atmore.
Warren K. Hawkins
LOXLEY – Mr. Warren K. Hawkins, 45, passed away April 2 at South Baldwin Hospital. A private funeral service was held April 6 in Atmore. A private graveside service followed in Atmore.
Mr. Hawkins, a native of Huntsville, was employed with a janitorial service.
Survivors include his wife, Alison Hawkins of Huntsville; two sons, Shawn Terrell and Warren Hawkins, both of Huntsville and one sister, Traci Dixon of Huntsville.
