Hybart Dees
Daphne – Mr. Hybart Dees, 82, of Atmore passed away May 29 at Mercy Medical. Funeral services were held May 31 at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. James C. Parmer and Rev. Steven Breceda officiating. Graveside services followed at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Uriah. The family received friends May 30 at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home.
Mr. Dees was a native of Monroe County and a resident of Atmore for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was injured in Cerreto, Italy, and received the Purple Heart. Mr. Dees retired from Radcliff Material Dredge Barge after 24 years service. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Edward Dees; his parents, Henry and Mary Arrington Dees; two brothers, Odis Dees and Wilson Murphy; and a half brother, Houston Allan. He is survived by two daughters, Glenda Wages of Excel and Judy Wilkinson of Frisco City; a sister, Zadie Baggett of Mineola; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Monroe Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ossie Streit
Baytown, Texas – Ossie Streit, 92, of Baytown passed away Saturday, May 28. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 1 at 10 a.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with services to follow. Graveside services will follow at Flomaton Cemetery.
Mrs. Streit was a former resident of Century, and most currently a resident of Baytown. She was born January 29, 1913 in Dozier and was raised in the Rawls community near Andalusia until her completion of high school. She moved to Century to attend nursing school at Turberville Hospital. There she met and married Albert Streit. Albert preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Dushanek and her husband Tommy of Cartaret, N.J.; two sons, James Streit and his wife, Frances, of Cantonment, Fla., and Charles Streit and his wife, Joan, of Seminole; nine grandchildren, 18 grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
