Warriors pluck Cards Friday

Atmore Cal Ripken Major League Baseball returned to action Friday night with a doubleheader. With only a week remaining in the season, teams scrambled to jockey for position in the standings.
The first game Friday night saw a bird roast as the United Bank Warriors pounded the Lions Club Cardinals 8-2.
Marshall Rolin, Cody Merchant, and Levi Gideons all scored twice on the evening for the Warriors. C.J. Pierce and Brandon Metzler added the other Cardinal runs in the win.
Nicholas Linam and Westley Sirmon scored the two Cardinal runs.
Red Sox 10
Tigers 5
The nightcap Friday saw an odd finish, as the Joey's Furniture Red Sox scored five runs in the top half of the seventh inning to defeat the Rotary Club Tigers in extra innings, 10-5.
Clay Kirby led the Sox on the day, scoring three runs. Drew Harp and Brett Wilkins added two runs apiece; and Logan Smith and Heath Smith also added runs.
Tacorian Brown, Jaylen Henry, Dustin Wilson, Chase Jaye, and Courtney McMorris scored the five Tiger runs.
Warriors 10

The United Bank Warriors stayed red-hot Saturday morning during a make-up day at Tom Byrne Park by outlasting the Rotary Club Tigers by a score of 10-7.
Marshall Rolin had a big day for the Warriors, scoring three runs. Brandon Metzler scored two runs on 2-for-3 batting; and C.J. Pierce, Cody Merchant, Levi Gideons, Josh Harris, and Chris Macks pitched in the other Warrior runs.
Tacorian Brown and James Dean led the Tigers in a losing effort, both crossing the plate twice. Jaylen Henry, Chase Jaye, and Bryant Lane also scored on the day for the Tigers.
Red Sox 15
Athletics 4
The Joey's Furniture Red Sox bats still couldn't be slowed down Saturday morning, as they pounded the First National Bank Athletics 15-4 in a mercy-rule laugher.
Dillion Rolin, Drew Harp, Logan Smith, Clay Kirby, and Chance Jackson all crossed the plate twice on the day for the Sox. Rolin led off the game with a home run. Keon McCants also knocked a home run on the day for the Sox; and Brett Wilkins, Clayton Vickrey, Austin Chafin, and Shelby Carter also added runs on the day.
Fred Knight, Thomas Moore, Dominique Hiebert, and Michael Glick scored the four A's runs.
Cardinals 14
Rangers 0
The Atmore VFW Rangers had no answer for the Lions Club Cardinals in the Saturday finale at Tom Byrne Park, with the Cardinals taking a 14-0 decision.
Christian Swartzendruber and Cole Boatwright led the Cardinals with three runs scored apiece. Nicholas Linam scored two Cardinal runs on the day; and Darren McGhee, Westley Sirmon, Tanner Boatwright, Dustin Mack, Jordan Sasser, and Ty Brown added the other Cardinal runs.
Austin Albritton was the only base runner the Rangers would manage on the day.
