Sheriff lifts mandatory curfew

Sheriff Grover Smith lifted the mandatory curfew for everyone west of Hwy. 113 Thursday morning.
According to Smith, the curfew will not be enforced tonight.
The curfew was implemented prior to Hurricane Dennis Saturday afternoon and continued in effect following the storm while power was being restored throughout Atmore and the rest of Escambia County. Mandatory curfews help protect business and residential property owners from looters, and also keep the general public and disaster relief workers safe while in the dark.
