Alabama Power offers advice to cut energy bills

With the blistering heat Alabama residents have faced this summer opening your power bill can be painful. Slowly energy bills have climbed as the heat has continued to rise. Air conditioners run continuously throughout the day and night attempting cool homes to no avail.
There's no escaping the heat.
Alabama Power recently issued some tips to help residents lower their energy bills and hopefully help them escape the heat with proper maintenance.
Insulation
R-value. The higher the R-value, the better the insulation. Experts recommend insulation with an R-value of R-30 in ceiling areas.
Kitchen tips
In addition to the energy saving tips, customers can get a customized Energy Check Up in as little as five minutes by going to alabamapower.com. Customers can take the easy check up or the full check up and get customized information on ways to save on their energy bill. Both check ups will issue a full report.
