The two major banks in Atmore were represented during Monday afternoon's Atmore City Council meeting in opposition of a retail liquor license request from DJ's Lounge.
Shep Marsh, president of First National Bank of Atmore, and Carolyn Crane, vice president of United Bank, were on hand during the meeting to express their concerns for their business should the lounge be awarded the request.
DJ's Lounge, which would have been located at the corner of Pensacola Ave. and Nashville Ave. next to DJ's Happy Dayz Restaurant or the former Sutton's Restaurant, was unanimously denied it's liquor license for other reasons besides the banks' concerns.
Following the meeting, Marsh clarified his reason for being against the license.
First National Bank officer Rob Faircloth agreed with Marsh.
United Bank vice president Carolyn Crane mirrored Marsh and Faircloth's sentiments.
