The Escambia Academy Cougars are only nine days away from the season opener against Faith Academy, but coach Heath Gibson still has plenty of work planned for his squad in the time he has left.
Even with the match-up with Faith looming, Gibson felt his team would need more work before beginning preparations for that game.
Despite his offense taking some huge steps during practice last week, Gibson felt they still had a lot to learn before taking the field.
Gibson said the next few days of practice would see more work on the offense.
Gibson has been very complimentary of his defense since the Cougars began fall practice three weeks ago, but he was especially excited to see how far they had come in the past few practices.
But Gibson could not help but be concerned about the offense.
The Cougars open the 2005 season Friday, August 26, at home against Faith Academy.
