After Hurricane Dennis ripped through Atmore July 10 several local athletic facilities suffered significant damage.
One of the hardest hit was Escambia Academy, which saw damage to almost all of its facilities.
But after a month-and-a-half, the Cougar facilities are beginning to take shape again, including the press box at the football stadium, which was destroyed for the second time in 10 months by Dennis.
A stroll through campus at the Academy following the storm not only revealed damage to the press box; but also several damaged fences, a toppled ticket booth, several ruined bleachers, and damage to many of the dugouts on the softball field. Gibson said all of those should be repaired before too long.
