Another fatal automobile accident occurred early Wednesday morning in Escambia County.
The accident, which occurred just outside of Atmore, claimed the lives of two women.
Tonja Luann Roberts, 36, of Gulf Shores died following the two-vehicle accident that occurred six miles south of Atmore on Interstate 65 within the county limits at mile marker 51. According to the Alabama State Troopers Office, Roberts was killed when the 1998 Nissan Sentra she was driving collided with an 18-wheeler at approximately 12:35 p.m.
Roberts was transported to the Atmore Community Hospital.
The passenger of the car, Elizabeth A. Kennedy was seriously injured in the accident and transported to West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. The 30-year-old Huntsville woman died at 12:55 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
The truck driver's name was not released.
