Florida officials nabbed a woman wanted in connection to a bank robbery in East Brewton this week, East Brewton Police Chief B.C. Cooper announced.
Santa Rosa County Sheriff's officials arrested Antoinette Rocamora, 42, on Friday after she robbed another bank in Florida. Cooper said Rocamora fled in a vehicle after robbing the bank and Santa Rosa County Sheriffs officials pursued her during a high-speed chase. When she was captured, Cooper said Florida officials stated she was allegedly "high" on drugs.
"She was probably (robbing banks) for drugs," Cooper said.
Rocamora was wanted in New Hampshire for forgery, and Cooper said she had allegedly robbed four banks in Florida and one in Alabama. Rocamora confessed to robbing the East Brewton branch of BankTrust.
Last week, Rocamora walked into the BankTrust, stood in the middle of the bank for a few minutes looking around, and allegedly approached a bank teller who was farther away from the one waiting on a customer.
The woman told the teller she had a gun and demanded all of the money. After receiving the money, she apologized to the teller and fled in a vehicle.
Rocamora is currently being held in the Santa Rosa County jail on state charges. Cooper said no bond had been set, and the FBI will handle all other charges. She will stand in front of the Federal Grand jury in October, Cooper added.
