Alford Garfield Bowens
ATMORE – Mr. Alford Garfield Bowens, 66, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2005 at his residence in Atmore. He was a native of Greenville and lived in Atmore for many years. Mr. Bowens was a laborer in the Pulpwood Industry.
His wife, Ethel Mae Bowens; his parents, Lewis Bowens and Myra Bowens; one daughter, Marilyn Bowens and one son, Charles Bowens, precede him in death.
Mr. Bowens is survived by: six daughters, Beverly Bowens, Gladys (Clifford) Hubard, Denise Green, Darnell Bowens, Shirley (Anthony) West, Yolander (Keith) Reynolds, all of Atmore; one son, Alford Bowens, Jr. of Atmore; six sisters, Elsenia Waller of Greenville, Lena Pearl Coney of Huntsville, Kate Lue Bowens of Indianapolis, Minnie Bowens, Annie Bowens, and Lee Ella Brown all of Atmore; five brothers, Robert George Bowens, John Albert Bowens, Jimmy Lee Bowens all of Indianapolis, William Bowens and Lewis Elbert, Jr. both of Atmore; nineteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and a devoted friend, Era Smith of Atmore.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church in Nokomis with Bishop Willie Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Shiloh Cemetery in Nokomis. Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 4, 2005 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel in Atmore.
Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mollie M. Harris
CENTURY – Mrs. Mollie M. Harris, 80, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005 at Jay Hospital. Mrs. Harris was a native of Hilbert, Al. and a resident of Century for many years. She was a member of St. Peter Baptist Church in Pollard, Al. Mrs. Harris was a missionary and was on the usher board. She was a homemaker.
Her mother and father, Annie Jackson and Cylister Jackson and one sister, Annie M. Bright, preceded Mrs. Harris in death.
One niece, Mary C. and Leroy Carter of Los Angeles, Ca, survives her.
Funeral Services were held Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005 at St. Peter Baptist Church in Pollard with Rev. Allen Miller officiating. Burial followed at Pollard Community Cemetery. Turner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
