Sav- a -Life of Escambia County (Ala.) held a life chain, Sunday, Oct. 2 at the corners of Hwy. 21 and 31 for one hour. The life chain is a silent reminder of one's right to life. The first Sunday of October is recognized with a life chain across the nation each year. This year's chain marked the 19th year of national awareness. Atmore has participated in the life chain since 2001. Atmore's silent chain was done in conjunction with other chains across the country. Mobile was the only other location across South Alabama to participate in the one-hour chain.
Twelve people lined the corner of Main and Hwy. 31 holding signs that promoted pro life.
"It was just a reminder to keep it in people's mind that there is still a battle for life going on." Ruth Weber, Sav – a – Life Director said.
