Jaws of Life frees victim

An unidentified white male was involved in a one-vehicle accident on South Presley Street Friday afternoon around 2:15 p.m.
The full-size Chevrolet pick-up was traveling south on Presley Street when the driver left the roadway. According to witnesses driving behind the truck, the vehicle then flipped several times before landing in a large concrete drainage ditch.
According to Atmore Fire Chief, Gerry McGhee, the driver was trapped in the passenger side floorboard of the vehicle when his crew arrived at the scene.
"We had to use the Jaws of Life to free him from the truck." McGhee said, "The crew had to cut the roof off of the truck to enable the EMT's to treat the victim.
Atmore Ambulance transported the injured driver to ACH where he remained at press time. More details of the accident with be available in the Wednesday edition of The Advance.
