Ghost and goblins came out of the woodwork Monday night.
Oh yea, you can't forget those adorable princesses and baby pumpkins.
Monday, which to the kiddies was Halloween night, and to us in the newspaper business, another deadline day, The Atmore Advance staff invited area trick or treaters to our office for games, candy and, of course, pictures.
Although it was advertised for 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., crowds began to gather at 4:30 p.m. and continued to get larger and larger. For that reason, we had to make the hard decision to close our doors up at 6:35 p.m. because all the Spidermen and Batmen had trick or treated us out of all our candy. Yea, 200 bags of candy gone with the flash of Darth Vader's lightsaber. It wasn't an easy thing to do, but we underestimated the crowd that we would have.
Even though the fun was cut short, 25 minutes to be exact, all the little trick or treaters that visited the office were very well dressed. We didn't think there was that many trick or treaters in town, not to mention that many GREAT costumes.
We took photographs of more than 200 trick or treaters and with the work of The Advance's dedicated staff, they are published in today's paper. Unfortunately, due to space constraints, we were unable to identify them like planned, but the pictures speak for themselves. We wanted to make sure every trick or treater that had his or her picture taken was published together.
I'm a firm believer that you learn as life goes on and next year, we at The Advance will know that there is never too much candy to go around.
