Woman injured in head-on collision

A local woman was airlifted by Life Flight to West Florida Hospital in Pensacola following a head-on collision in Poarch on Wednesday.
According to an eyewitness, the driver of a Ford F-150 identified by an official with the Alabama State Troopers Office as David Warren Dean rearended a Hyundai Elantra driven by Annie McNeal, 56, of Atmore sending the vehicle into oncoming traffic. McNeal's vehicle then collided head-on with a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Connie Strength Jr., 65, of Fairhope.
McNeal was admitted into the intensive care unit at West Florida Hospital. A witness of the accident said she was nearly ejected from the vehicle.
Strength was injured in the accident and transported by ambulance Atmore Community Hospital where he was treated and released. The nature of his injuries were unknown.
The accident occurred at around 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of Old Poarch Road and Martin Road in between the Poarch Volunteer Fire Department and Poarch Police Department.
Poarch Volunteer Fire Department, Poarch Police Department and a trooper with the Alabama State Troopers Office responded to the accident. David's Paint and Body towed all three vehicles from the crash site.
