James Edwards
NOKOMIS – Mr. James Edwards, 67 passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005 at a Mobile Hospital.
Mr. Edwards was a native of Mobile and a resident of Nokomis, Fla., for the past 44 years. He attended the Baptist church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and helped raise his brothers and sisters, as well as many other children. He loved football, hunting and fishing.
Mr. Edwards was a U.S. Navy Veteran that fought in Korea, and a retired teacher from Jefferson Davis College after 26 years.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Edwards of Nokomis, Fla; three sons, Robert and Ashley Edwards of Atmore, Wade Edwards of Nokomis, Fla., and Joe Pace of Nokomis, Fla; his daughter, Tammy and Don Brazell of Mobile; three grandchildren of his own, Waylon Pace, Justin Pace and Tiffany Williamson; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; three brothers, A. J. and Willie Jean Edwards, Carlie Edwards, and Bernie and Debra Edwards, all of Bratt, Fla; and his sister, Marilyn and Dee Branch of Atmore.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Forrister and Rev. Steve Breceda officiating. Burial will follow in Godwin Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jack Beck, Ray Digmon, Scotty Hastings, Dustin Hastings, Darrell Greene and Casey Williamson.
Jerome Smith
Mr. Jerome Smith, 59 passed away on Monday, Nov. 21, 2005 at a North Baldwin Hospital.
Mr. Smith was a native and resident of Atmore. He was a member of Jones Street Holiness Church and was employed with Standard Furniture of Bay Minette as a fork lift operator. Mr. Smith also served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ester Mae Smith and Joseph Smith and a brother, Johnny Frank Smith.
He is survived by: his wife, Geraldine Smith of Atmore; six daughters, Angela Nicole (Calvin) McGinnis of Stone Mountain, Ga., Erica Lanette (Floyd) Hull of Atlanta, Ga., Sophia C. Smith, Valentina Monique Smith, and Patrice-Lorraine Smith all of Atmore and Tarricka Woods of Pollard; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 28, 2005 at Jones Street Holiness Church in Atmore with Bishop Willie L. Williams officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery. Turner Funeral Chapel was in charge of all arrangements.
Linda Theon
Colbert Dale
URIAH – Mrs. Linda Theon Colbert Dale, 35 of Uriah, died on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005 in Baldwin County.
Mrs. Dale was a former resident of Atmore and lived in Uriah. She graduated from J. U. Blacksher High School and had attended nursing school at Bishop State Community College. She owned and operated Theon's Place, a restaurant on Highway 21 near Huxford.
Her parents, Cullen B. Colbert and Dottie Woods Colbert, precede her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Randy Dale of Daphne; three sons, Michael Dustin Boone of Lottie, Bobby Deon Knight of Atmore, Scotty Bryant Knight of Atmore; three brothers, Robbie Bryant Colbert of Perdido, George Marion Colbert of Uriah, Kevin Michael Colbert of Lottie and a sister, Glenda Faye Colbert of Atmore.
Graveside services were held on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005 at Semirah Springs Cemetery in Uriah.
Mollie A. Roberson
MCDAVID – Mrs. Mollie A. Roberson, 94, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005 at a Santa Rosa hospital.
Mrs. Roberson was a native of Moyeville and a resident of McDavid, Fla., for the past 56 years. She attended the Baptist church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Cleve Roberson.
Survivors include: her son, Bennie Roberson of Brewton; three daughters, Irene Jones, Frances Roberson and Marie Lambeth, all of McDavid, Fla.; her grandson, Joe Dalton Roberson of Auburn; and a number of step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 28, 2005 at 10 a.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. James Hughes officiating. Burial followed in Traveler's Rest Cemetery. Eastside Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
Patrick Ryan Burkette
Patrick Ryan Burkette, 15 of Atmore went home to be an angel on Friday, Nov. 25, 2005 at his residence. He was born on Feb.11, 1990 in Tallahassee, Fla., to Mark and Blair Woods Burkette.
He was an honorary paramedic with Kelly's Ambulance Service and a member of The First United Methodist Church of Atmore.
Survivors are: his parents, Mark and Blair Burkette; one sister, Erin Burkette and one brother, Marshall Burkette; a grandmother, Sara Woods of Atmore; a grandfather, Bobby Woods; a great grandmother, Verna Turk, all of Atmore; a grandfather, Wayne Burkette of Walnut Hill, Fla; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of special friends.
Services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005 at 11 a.m. from the First United Methodist Church of Atmore with Dr. Douglas Newton officiating. Interment followed in the Mothershed Cemetery in Atmore. Pallbearers were Mark Burkette, Matt Burkette, Justin Emmons, Wesley Sirmon, John Sirmon, and Barbara Turk. Honorary pallbearers were Wanda Smith and paramedics with Kelley's Ambulance Service, Joey Kelley, Sandy Flowers, Glenn Kelley, Susan Odom, Don Little, Yancy Seals, Tony Tilton, Leta Cure, Mike Staples, Robbie Johnson, Scott James, Michelle Helton, Melissa Roberts, Angela Knight and Theresa Knight.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to United Cerebral Palsy at 3058 Dauphin Square Conn., Mobile, Ala. 36607.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.
Gloria Johnson
Mrs. Gloria Carnley Johnson, 49 of Flomaton, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005 at her home. Mrs. Johnson was a native of McDavid, but had been a resident of Flomaton for the past 32 years and was a member of the Little Escambia Baptist Church. She worked as an aid at the Flomaton Elementary School for 20 years and was a volunteer for the American Heart Association.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Todd and Pearl Floyd, Pink and Gladys Carnley, a brother Jackie Carnley, and a nephew, Trucker Carnley.
She is survived by her parents, L. J. and Helen Carnley, of Century; her husband, Charles R. Johnson, of Flomaton; two sons, Charles Heath Johnson, of Atlanta, Cory R. Johnson, of Brewton; two brothers, Ricky Carnley (Marie) of McDavid, Frankie Carnley (Kay) of Flomaton; three sisters, Jo-Ann Williamson (Leroy) of Fritch, Texas, Joyce Carnley of Byrneville, Joan DeWise (Earl) of Flomaton; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 28, 2005 at the Little Escambia Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Howard officiating. Burial followed in the Flomaton Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers were J. R. Jones, David Nolin, Larry Zangas, Bill Price, Darryl Fore, Buddy White, Tommy Allgood, Arnold Weaver, David Curran, Ladon Hall and Donald Jordan.
Frances Martin
Miss. Frances Martin, 35 died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005 at her residence. She was a native of Newark, N. J. and a resident of Atmore for many years. She was a member of Jones Street Holiness Church in Atmore.
Her father Frank Eugene Davis precedes her in death. She is survived by her mother, Alfreda Gulley of Perdido; three sisters, Altheria McCarthy and Shanda Taylor, both of Atmore, and Keisha Gulley of Bay Minette; two brothers, Henry Gulley, Jr. and Fredrick Gulley both of Bay Minette.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Jones Street Holiness Church in Atmore with Bishop Willie L. Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 2, 2005 from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. with family hour being from 7 to 8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel.
Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.
John Henry Payne
Mr. John Henry Payne, 63, died on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005 at Memorial Hospital in Albany, N. Y. He was a native of Atmore and a resident of Albany, N. Y. for many years.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005 beginning at noon at Fairview Cemetery in Atmore. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel.
Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.
