The Escambia Academy Lady Cougars had some problems against Mobile Christian Academy Nov. 29.
EA was not able to stay out of foul trouble in the fourth quarter and lost 56-48.
"The game was closer than the score indicated," EA head coach Heath Gibson said. "We were down by two late in the game and we were in a position where we had to foul and every time they went to the stripe they knocked them down."
Gibson said he believes the Lady Cougars should have won the game.
"I thought we could have beat Mobile Christian, but we got into foul trouble," Gibson said. "If we would have put ourselves in a better position we would have won the game. My girls are real aggressive. Sometimes when you play great defense you get into foul trouble and that took the game away from us."
Lori Bonds led EA against Mobile Christian with 20 points and Heather White and Jamie Drew added six points each.
The Lady Cougars dropped another game Dec. 1 48-36 to Cottage Hill.
Bonds again led the scoring with 15 points and White chipped in six points again. Allison Thomas added eight points.
"I think it will make us better to have seen that tough competition early," he said.
In boy's action
The boy's team lost to Mobile Christian 80-59 and Cottage Hill 45-14. Head coach Kevin Woods said the guys played hard.
Against Mobile Andrew Lambeth scored 18 points and Cody Norton 10, Jeffery Taylor seven, Joseph Drew four, Wesley Channell, Bruce Smith and Matt Ash two.
Against Cottage Hill Lambeth dropped in 20 points, Taylor 16, Smith and Norton eight, Channell four and Drew three.
