Bobbie Lee Holland
ATMORE – Mrs. Bobbie Lee Holland, 63, of Atmore, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005 at a Pensacola hospital.
Mrs. Holland was a native of Uriah but had been a resident of Atmore for the past 44 years and was a member of Unity Baptist Church. Mrs. Holland had resided at the Atmore Nursing Care Center for the past two years. She was a waitress at Buster's for more than 10 years and worked at Masland Carpets for three years before she became disabled.
Her parents, Thomas S. and Virgie Qualls; a son, Ray Holland and a brother, McCoy Qualls, preceded Mrs. Holland in death.
She is survived by a brother and sister in law, Thomas and Gladys Qualls of Atmore, and two grandchildren, Miranda and Andrew Holland of Atmore.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Eastside Chapel with Rev. Gene Pickern and Rev. Earl Harrison officiating. Burial followed in the Serenity Garden Cemetery with Eastside Chapel directing.
Pallbearers were: Evan Qualls, Jeremy Qualls, Aubrey Davison, Kenny Rolin, Jon Hansen and James Thomas Qualls.
Claude Gomez
ATMORE – Mr. Claude Gomez, 77, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at Atmore Community Hospital. Viewing will be held today from 12 to 6 p.m. at Christian Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Stallworth Cemetery in Atmore. Christian Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Geneva Lyons Williams
FREEMANVILLE – Mrs. Geneva Lyons Williams, 88, passed away on Dec. 6, 2005 at Atmore Nursing Care Center. She was born in Conecuh County on Nov. 24, 1917 to the late Ryland and Daisy Lyons. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Wilson Williams, Jr. and to this union twelve children were born. Bobby and Lewis preceded her in death. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memories: six daughters, Creola (Levarn) Bryant, Jeanette Salter, Wilcia (Verbin) Kemp, Margaret (Sam) Hudson, of Atmore, Marilyn (Jies) Autrey of Mobile, Jill (Jonathon) Layton of Granbury, Texas; four sons, Ryland and Earl Williams of Akron, Ohio, Larry Williams, Los Angeles Calif., and Wilson Williams, III of Atmore; one stepson, Larry Brooks of Atmore; thirty grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren, three sister in laws, Martha Lyons, Ida Green and Esterlyn Stephens; many nieces and nephews, one devoted friend, Verna Williams and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005 at Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church in Freemanville with Dr. Alfonzia Williams officiating. Interment followed in Pierce Cemetery in Freemanville. Active pallbearers were Mrs. Williams's grandsons and flower bearers were her granddaughters. Final arrangements were entrusted to Christian Memorial Funeral Home in Atmore.
Heather Marie Brousseau
BRATT – Heather Marie Brousseau, age 19, of Bratt, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at her residence. She was born in Peru, Ind., on Sept. 9, 1986 to David Allan and Elizabeth Ellen Hall Brousseau.
Survivors are: her father and mother, David and Elizabeth Brousseau; one sister, Hannah Grace Brousseau, all of Bratt, Fla.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 12, 2005 at 1 p.m. from Johnson – Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeff Howard officiating. Interment followed in Godwin Cemetery, Bratt, Fla. Johnson – Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
Ether Varner
LOTTIE – Mr. Ether Varner, 86, died on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005 at his residence. Mr. Varner was born in Owassa and was a resident of Lottie. He was a self-employed automobile mechanic.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Montez Sewell Varner and a son, David Drew Varner.
Mr. Varner is survived by: his twelve children; Elizabeth Voncile Smith and Kathy Montez Kelly and Esther Golden Varner all of Meridian, Miss., Ellen G. Fikes, Vivian Varner and Martha Weaver, all of Bay Minette, Louise Wilson of Fairhope, Jimmy Varner of Stockton, Edith Evans, Annie Darlene Wade, both of Quitman, Miss., Patricia Hinman of Spanish Fort, and James Varner of Atmore; 27 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, Dec. 12, 2005 at the Chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Welch officiating. Burial followed at the Bryars McGill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were: Michael Wilson, Mike Hearn, Lum Weaver, Kevin Lajun, Shawn Miller and Dennis Hinman, Jr.

Mary M. Thames
ATMORE – Mrs. Mary M. Thames, 73 died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005 at Atmore Community Hospital. She was a native of Vocation and a resident of Atmore for many years. Mrs. Thames was a housekeeper.
Her father and mother, James and Frozine Henderson, preceded Mrs. Thames in death.
She is survived by her husband, George Thames, Jr. of Atmore; three daughters, Annette Jeffers, Teresa G. (Charlie) Davis, both of Atmore and Pamela Thames of Bridgeport, Conn.; four sons, Howard (Lula) Thames, John A. Thames, Alex E. (Katrina) Thames all of Atmore and Michael Thames of Baton Rouge, La; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Atmore with Rev. Joe Hayes officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery in Atmore.
Wilcie Marion Carter Holt
ATMORE – Mrs. Wilcie Marion Carter Holt, 81, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005 at Atmore Community Hospital. She was a native of Conecuh County and was a resident of Atmore for many years.
Mrs. Holt was a member of Harris Street A.O.H. Holiness Church in Atmore and worked as a Home health aide for the Alabama Department of Human Resources.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Hattie Stallworth and Henry Carter, Sr.; her husband, Lester Thomas Holt, daughters, Marie Holt and Wilcie Belle Holt Moss; sons, Larry Dewayne Holt and Willie Gene Holt.
She is survived by: two daughters, Margaret (Harvey) Holt Caldell of Tuskegee and Cynthia Holt Taylor of Montgomery; one son, Lester Thomas Holt, Jr. of Fayette; five sisters, Helen Carter Armstrong of Atmore, Doris (Walter) Carter Barron of Anniston, Ann Carter Wells of Rockville Centre, N.Y. and Myrtle Carter Wallace of Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, Rev. Henry Carter, Jr. of Atmore and Frank Carter of Bloomfield, Conn.; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Harris Street A.O.H. Holiness Church in Atmore with Overseer Q. Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Atmore. Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 16, 2005 from 2 to 8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel. Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.
William Merrill (Willie) Davis, Sr.
DAVISVILLE – Mr. William Merrill (Willie) Davis, 85, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005.
Mr. Davis was a native and lifelong resident of Davisville, Fla. He was a descendent of the Davis' that settled the community of Davisville, which included the Davisville School. Mr. Davis was a retired farmer and master carpenter.
Remaining legacy of loved ones include: his wife of 63 years, Lillian Merle Smith Davis; one son, William M. (Sonny) and wife Bonnie Cooper Davis of York, S. C., formally of Bratt, Fla.; two daughters, Eunice Davis Edgar and husband Billy of Canoe and Cindy Davis Jordan Edwards Harrison of Davisville, Fla.; one granddaughter, Sonja Edgar Lambert (David); nine grandsons, Billy Davis (Cindy), Denny Davis (Tina), Randall Davis, Tony Davis (Jenny), James Edgar (Sally), Ollie Edgar, Michael Edgar (Amanda), Cary Jordan (Brenda), Chris Edwards (Sue); fifteen great grandchildren, Chase, T. J., Zoe, Little Denny Davis, Blake, Ryan, Emily, Cole, Caitlan, Megan and Lily Edgar, Tori and Toby Jordan, Andrew Edwards and Brandon Goodale; also a number of nephews, nieces and cousins. Special extended family, Sherry and Nancy Rhodes and Kelly Rhodes Gash.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Johnson – Quimby Chapel with Bro. Marcus Caraway officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Barren Cemetery in Davisville, Fla. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons and great grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers. Johnson – Quimby Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Willie Floyd Gray
ATMORE – Mr. Willie Floyd Gray, 49, passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005 at a Mobile hospital.
Mr. Gray was native of Blackshear and a resident of Atmore for most of his life. He worked at Standard Furniture Company in Bay Minette. He attended the Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Lizzie Gray and two sisters, Voncile Gray and Susan Cross.
Survivors include: his wife, Lorraine Gray of Atmore; three daughters, Janice Rollin, Elizabeth Gray and Sky Gray, all of Atmore; two grandchildren, William Floyd Rollin and Taylor Madison Gray; two brothers, Mack Douglas Gray of Pine Grove and Michael Wayne Gray of Bay Minette; two sisters, Barbara Gray Hayles of Bay Minette and Deborah Hadley of Splinter Hill and ten nieces and nephews.
Survivors include: his wife, Lorraine Gray of Atmore; three daughters, Janice Rolin, Elizabeth Gray and Sky Gray, all of Atmore; two grandchildren, William Floyd Rolin and Taylor Madison Gray; two brothers, Mack Douglas Gray of Pine Grove and Michael Wayne Gray of Bay Minette; two sisters, Barbara Gray Hayles of Bay Minette and Deborah Hadley of Splinter Hill and ten nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 12, 2005 at 10 a.m. at the Dean's Holiness Church with Sister Helen Stewart officiating.
Burial followed at Lottie Methodist Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Joseph Hayles, Roger Hadley, Little Joe Hadley, Russell McPhearson, Ronnie Hadley, Russell Rollin, Vern Reese.
Willie Lewis "Sonny" Johnson
ATMORE – Mr. Willie Lewis "Sonny" Johnson, 54, died on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola, Fla. He was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore.
His father, Elbert Lambert and grandparents, Andrew and Lela Johnson, preceded Mr. Johnson in death.
He is survived by his mother, Deloise Caldwell of Pensacola, Fla.; one son, Derrick Riley of Pensacola, Fla.; six sisters, Carolyn Melton of Pensacola, Fla., Barbara Rabb and Dorene Lambert, both of Atmore, Lorine Lankford of Ganiter, Miss., Pinky Frye of Atlanta, Ga., and Shirley Lambert of Philadelphia, Pa.; two brothers, Elbert Lambert, Jr. of Atmore and Eddie Lambert of Fort Dodge, Iowa; three grandchildren, and step father, Cecil Caldwell of Pensacola, Fla.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Stallworth Cemetery in Atmore. Visitation will held on Friday, Dec. 16, 2005 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel. Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.
Devon Hamilton Scott
CENTURY – Mr. Devon Hamilton Scott, 54 of Century, Fla., died on Monday, Dec. 12, 2005 at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. Turner Funeral Chapel will announce services.
