L. Annie Walton
DOTHAN – Mrs. Wilbur L. "Annie" Walton, 95 of Dothan, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005 at her residence.
Mrs. Walton was born May 18, 1910 in Notasulga and she resided the early years of her life there. She came to Dothan with her late husband, Dr. Wilbur L. Walton, who served as pastor of First United Methodist Church from 1954 until 1964. Mrs. Walton was a very active member in First United Methodist Church and was a member of Onyx-Smart Sunday school class.
Her husband, Dr. Wilbur L. Walton, a grandson, Hal Knox Waller, III, a son-in-law, Hal Knox Waller, Jr, preceded Mrs. Walton in death.
Survivors include a son, Wilbur L. Walton, Jr., Dothan; a daughter, Ann Waller, Atmore; a granddaughter, Melissa Nichols and her husband Randy, Atmore; two great grandchildren, Gordon and Walton Nichols, Atmore; a sister, Lois McKinney, Snellville, Ga.; several nieces and nephews; her special care givers, Betty and Carl Adams and Becky Morgan.
Funeral services will be held at noon today, Dec. 21, 2005 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Lawson Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home from 10:45 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. today.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005 at 1 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore with Bro. J. D. Renfroe officiating and Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home directing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302, First United Methodist Church, 1380 West Main Street, Dothan, Ala. 36301 or to a favorite charity.
Minnie Gibbs Wasdin
PENSACOLA – Minnie Gibbs Wasdin, 83 of Pensacola, Fla., passed away Dec. 18, 2005. She was a native of Atmore where she lived most of her life before residing in Pensacola for the past 20 years. Mrs. Wasdin was a charter member of Northminister Presbyterian Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Dovie Gibbs, her husband, Eunice E. Wasdin, two sisters, Mildred Cooper and Doris Cooper.
Survivors include her son, Lamar (Cheryl) Wasdin; her sister, Alice (Joseph) Morin; grandson, Keith (Rebecca) Wasdin and great granddaughter, Sarah Wasdin.
Memorial services will be held today, Dec. 21, 2005 at 3 p.m. from Northminister Presbyterian Church will Dr. Walk Jones officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Mrs. Wasdin's name to Northminister Presbyterian Church or Covenant Hospice.
Faith Chapel Funeral Home North is in charge of all arrangements.
Mary L. Scober
URIAH – Mrs. Mary L. Scober, 70 died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital. She was a native and life long resident of Uriah.
Mrs. Scober was a member of Grovehill Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the church choir. She was a housekeeper.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Sam Scober, her mother and father, Ethel Shoemo and Ike Shoemo, and a sister, Margaret Cooper.
She is survived by: three sisters, Dorothy Jean Shoemo of Oakland, Calif., Wesley Jean Shoemo of Providence, R.I., and Alice Knott of Charlotte, N. C.; six brothers, Clifton (Voyica) Shoemo, Abe (Fannie) Shoemo, Ivan (Helen) Lett all of Uriah and Charles (Mary) Shoemo of Pensacola, Fla., Robert Shoemo of Atmore and Ronnie Shoemo of Providence, R. I.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 23, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Grovehill Missionary Baptist Church in Grovehill with Rev. T.L. Douglas officiating. Burial will follow at Grovehill Cemetery in Grovehill.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005 from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel.
Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.
Kindle Amon Taylor
ATMORE – Mr. Kindle Amon Taylor, age 20 of Atmore died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005 in Atmore. He was employed with the State of Alabama Board of Corrections. Mr. Taylor was born in Escambia County, Ala., on Feb. 10, 1985 to Kindle Myron and Amon Gwenda Hawthorn Taylor. He was a member of McCullough Christian Center.
Survivors are: his parents, Myron and Amon Gwenda Taylor of Atmore; grandmother, Christene Hawthorn of Laurel Hill, Fla.; three sisters, Bridget Kay Taylor Faith and Sena Renee Taylor Crawford both of Atmore; and Nikie Christine Taylor Dixon of Bay Minette; two nephews and two nieces, Zander Crawford, Logan Faith, Victoria Dixon and Taylor Dixon.
Services will be today, Dec. 21, 2005 at noon from the McCullough Christian Center with Bro. C. P. Phillips and Bro. Richard Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be, Justin Caraway, Tony Tolbert, Ryan James, Donnie Findley, Brent Hicks, Berry Etheridge and Tommy Morrow.

Furgie Eugene Espie
CENTURY – Mr. Furgie Eugene Espie, 58 of Century, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 16, 2005 at Baptist Hospital.
The family hour will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pilgrim Lodge Baptist Church in Century, Fla.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 23, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the Century Cemetery.
