Thomas H. "Tommy" Brown
STOCKTON – Mr. Thomas H. "Tommy" Brown, 41, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2005 in Atmore.
Mr. Brown was a native of Flomaton and a resident of Stockton for most of his life. He was a 1982 graduate of Flomaton High School, a certified EMT, an avid fisherman at Boatyard Lake and attended the Flomaton First United Methodist Church. His parents, E.T. and Mary Alice Brown, preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his daughter, Brandi and Jason Davidson of Flomaton; the mother of his daughter, Donna Mathis of Century, Fla.; two sisters, Cindy and Mark Greenwell of Bluff Springs, Fla. and Melissa and Jim Johnson of Flomaton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim McKnight officiating. Burial will follow at Flomaton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Greenwall, William Rowell, Lee Rowell, Wesley Preston and Tim Johnson.
Donald Gregg Harrison
JESUP, Ga. – Donald Gregg Harrison, a native of Meridian, Miss., and a resident off Jesup, Ga., died in Hillsboro, Ky. on Dec. 19, 2005.
Survivors include, his wife, Debbie C. Harrison; sons, John Rex Harrison and Travis Ray Harrison, all of Jesup, Ga.; his mother, Anne Harrison Petty of Atmore; and his father, Don R. Harrison of Fairhope.
A private service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Anne Harrison Petty Scholarship Fund, University of South Alabama, Mobile, Ala. 36688 or to a charity of choice.
Inora Phifer
CENTURY, Fla. – Mrs. Inora Phifer, 83, of Century, Fla. passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 27 at Jay Hospital.
Furgie Eugene Espie
CENTURY, Fla. – Mr. Furgie Eugene Espie, 58, of Century passed away on December 16, 2005.
Furgie was born in Vancouver, Wash., the fourth child of Robert Izear Espie Sr. and Jennie Mae Espie. He joined the Pilgrim Lodge Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. G.W. Lovett. Furgie attended G.W. Carver High School and later relocated the South Florida.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He exchanged his earthly life for an eternal life on Friday evening, Dec. 16, 2005.
His father, Robert Izear Espie, Sr., his sister Annie Espie and his niece Jacquitta McCall preceded him in death.
Everyone, most notably, his dear loving family, will cherish the memories of Furgie Espie's life.
Furgie leaves behind his loving mother, Mrs. Jennie Espie; four sisters, Nancy Underwood of Inglewood, Calif., Jennie (James) Brazier, Cantonment, Fla., Barbara Mitchell, Inglewood, Calif. And Mattie (Leroy) Carter of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers, Robert Izear Espie Jr. of Atlanta, Ga. and Jimmie (Joyce) Espie Sr. of Inglewood Calif.; three aunts, Ruby Johnson of Pensacola, Fla., Alice McWhorter of Gary, Ind. and Priscilla McWhorter of Century, Fla.; seven nieces, four nephews, seven great nieces; seven great nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. at Pilgrim Lodge Baptist Church in Century, Fla. on Friday, Dec. 23 with the Rev. Leonard Watson officiating. Burial followed at Century Cemetery in Century, Fla.
Active pallbearers were Bonnie Ewing, Ronald Graves, Kenny Harris, Elmer Lowe, Denver Graves and Prince Spruill. Honorary pallbearers were Lawrence Hoffman and Marvin Mitchell.
Verlie Evelyn Moye
FLOMATON – Mrs. Verlie Evelyn Moye, 89, of Flomaton passed away Sunday, Dec. 25 in a Brewton nursing facility.
Mrs. Moye was a native and life-long resident of the Flomaton area. She taught school at McCall School for three yeas during World War II. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club and Catawba Springs Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for a number of years.
Her husband, Mr. Allen Moye, and son, Jack Moye, preceded her in death.
Survivors include, her son, Jim Moye, of Samson; daughters, Margaret Long of Flomaton and Evelyn Adams of Newnan, Ga.; sister, Nadine Martin of St. Petersburg, Fla., 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28 at Catawba Springs Baptist Church with speaker John Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Springs Cemetery in Brewton.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Dec. 27 at the Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Ray Moye, Billy Moye, John David Long, Scott Jackson, John Jackson and James Jackson.
