Frances Cynthia Merriwether Butler
PENSACOLA – Mrs. Frances Cynthia Merriwether Butler, age 90 of Pensacola, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006 in Pensacola, Fla. Mrs. Butler was a former resident of Atmore. She was born in Atmore on Dec. 7, 1915 to the late Jacob and Claudia Viola Robinson Merriwether. She was a librarian with Escambia County Florida Schools.
Survivors are: one son, Eddie Garland Butler, Jr. of Excel; four daughters, Frances Borowski of Pensacola, Fla., Ann Ammons of Troy, Martha LeCroy of Brent and Susan Henderson of Ramer; two sisters, Bessie Malone of Augusta, Ga. and Ruth Conner of Tampa, Fla.; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held on Monday, Jan. 23, 2006 at 12:30 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery with Bro. Ted Borowski officiating. Johnson – Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
Joseph "Buster" Johnson
FLINT – Mr. Joseph "Buster" Johnson, 65, formerly of Atmore died on Friday, Jan. 20, 2006 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Mich.
Mable Alice Roley
BAY MINETTE – Mrs. Mable Alice Roley, 92, born in Brady, Alabama, and a resident of Bay Minette, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 at Atmore Nursing Home. She was a retired cashier for Beasley's Food Mart.
She is survived by: three sons, Clarence (Sue) Roley, Tommy Roley, and Donald (Debby) Roley, all of Bay Minette; four daughters, Mildred Ledkins, Lawrenceville, Ga., Ruth Beasley, Montgomery, Billie Wilson and Vivian (Robbins) White, both of Atmore; one sister, Edith Hudson of Bay Minette; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Willie Roley and great-granddaughter, Sarah White.
Funeral services for Mrs. Roley were held on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006 at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Snyder and Rev. Don Roley officiating. Interment followed at Halls Fork Cemetery. Pallbearers were William White, Stephen White, Anthony Roley, Cary Roley, Jonathon Wilson and Tommy Roley, Jr. Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette made funeral arrangements.
Thomas Henry "T. H." Peebles
BRATT – Mr. Thomas Henry "T. H." Peebles, 78, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006 at a Pensacola hospital.
Mr. Peebles was a native and lifelong resident of Bratt, Fla. He was a member of the Pinebarren Hunting Club, the End of the Road Hunting Club, a retired employee from St. Regis after 37 years, and Friese Gravel and Hauling Company after 15 years.
He attended the Freewill Baptist Church, was a veteran of WWII, and was preceded in death by seven brothers, James William Peebles, James Wilson Peebles, Luther Woodrow Peebles, Coldwell Clifton Peebles, Robert Clinton Peebles, Wilborn Jackson Peebles, and Silas Edward Peebles, and two sisters, Agnes Equilla Peebles and Mary Irene Peebles.
Survivors include: his wife, Lieselotte H. "Lola" Peebles of Bratt, Fla; two sons, Henry William "Willie" and Pat Peebles of McDavid, Fla., and Robert Franz Peebles of Bratt, Fla; two daughters, Mary Louise Peebles of Jacksonville, Fla., and Rebecca Geraldine and Tony Wheeler of Bratt, Fla; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; six brothers, Martin Cunnard Peebles, Vernon McGilbert Peebles, Paul Rodgers Peebles, Franklin Leroy Peebles, Auther Raymond Peebles, and Lester Calvin Peebles; and three sisters, Nancy Luverne Peebles Diamond, Sarah Catherine Peebles Stewart, and Ruth Elaine Peebles Spender.
Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 25, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Petty/Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Peebles and Rev. Joey Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery in Bratt, Fla. Pallbearers will be Kevin Peebles, Eugene Wheeler, Darin Peebles, Tony Peebles and Ronald Peebles. Honorary pallbearers will be Derick Peebles, Michael Stacey, Roger Peebles, Randal Peebles, Phillip Peebles, Jeff Steadham, Danny Steadham, and David Steadham. Petty Funeral Homes, LLC are in charge of all arrangements.
