Timothy Harold Scott
ATMORE – Mr. Timothy Harold Scott, age 34, of Atmore died on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006. Mr. Scott was a native of Atmore and owner of Southern Plumbing Company.
His mother, Judy Powell Scott and one brother, Danny Wayne Scott, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Katherine Renee Qualls Scott; one son, Timothy Nathan Scott; one daughter, Torri Nicole Scott all of Atmore; father and stepmother, Billy Nathan Scott and Connie Scott of Atmore; four sisters, Ronda Scott and Marie Westgate, both of Atmore, Charlene Buckhault of Robertsdale, and Maria Hughes of Pittsburgh; and one brother, Tony Tolbert of Atmore.
Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 29, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Weaver, Ricky Gohagin, Terrell Boutwell, Larry Bailey, Jerry Casey, Nathan Dortch, Paul Dortch, Dempsey Rolin, Gab Gallious, Brad Wooten and Mike Gaffney. Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Joyce Elaine Thompson Bates
BAY MINETTE – Mrs. Joyce Elaine Thompson Bates, 59, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006 at a Mobile hospital.
Mrs. Bates was a native of Uriah and a resident of Bay Minette for the past 34 years. She attended the Holiness church.
Survivors include: her son, Dudley "Rick" and Donna Bates of Bay Minette; her daughter, Tracie and Mike Bracken of Bay Minette; eight grandchildren; four brothers, Edward and Virginia Thompson of Hendersonville, Tenn., Barry and Pam Thompson of Bay Minette, Fred and Alma Thompson of Mobile, and Kevin and Gayle Thompson of Molino, Fla; four sisters, Mary and Bill Roche of Gulf Breeze, Fla, Janice and David Walker of Bay Minette, Judy and Wayne Flowers of Perdido, and Opal and Don Miller of Chancellor; and twenty nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 27, 2006 at 1 p.m. at the Full Power Holiness Church with Rev. Joe Welch officiating. Burial followed at Bay Minette Cemetery with Petty Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Tim Flowers, Josh Walker, Chris Thompson, Jeff Bates, Brandon Wiggins, and Chris Parnell. Honorary pallbearer was Tom Brown.
Isom Coley, Jr.
JASPER – Mr. Isom Coley, Jr., age 49, formerly of Atmore and a resident of Jasper, died on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006 at Waker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper.
Joseph "Buster" Johnson
FLINT – Mr. Joseph "Buster" Johnson, 65, passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2006 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Mich. He was a native of Hurricane, Alabama and a former resident of Atmore. He has lived in Flint, Mich. for many years. She graduated from Escambia County Training School in 1959 in Atmore. He retired from General Motors in Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Annie L. Johnson; sisters, Bessie Brown and Margaret Howard; brothers, Hayward Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Samuel Johnson and Jimmy Johnson.
He is survived by: two sisters, Courtney Thames of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Dora McNeal of Atmore.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 27, 2006 at St. Mary Baptist Church in Hurricane, Alabama with Minister Clouese Snowden officiating. Burial followed in Cross Road Cemetery in Hurricane, Alabama. Turner Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Josephine Kyles Jenkins
ATMORE – Mrs. Josephine Kyles Jenkins, 80, of Atmore, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006 at Atmore Nursing Center. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006 at the Christian Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
Kathleen D. Godwin
ATMORE – Mrs. Kathleen D. Godwin, age 66 of Atmore, died Thursday, Jan. 26 in Century, Florida. She was a seamstress with Vanity Fair Mills. She was born on April 26, 1939 in Robinsonville to the late Thomas D. and Leona Moye Daw.
One son, Eddie James Godwin and one brother, Garry Daw, precede her in death.
Survivors are: her husband, James Robert Godwin, a daughter, Mary Joy and husband, Brian of Atmore; one brother, Jerry Daw of Birmingham; two granddaughters, Stephanie Dean Yoder and Rebecca McKinley; and one great-grandson, David Dean.
Services will be held today, Jan. 29, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. in Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Earl Harrison officiating. Graveside services will be Monday, Jan. 30, 2006 in Sardis Cemetery. Johnson -Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Lora Faye Jarrell
RABUN – Mrs. Lora Faye Jarrell, 57, passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2006 in Rabun. Mrs. Jarrell was a native and lifelong resident of Rabun. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and family person and attended the Holiness church.
Survivors include: her husband, Billy Jarrell of Rabun; three sons, Chris Stacey of Rabun, Clifton Smith of Rabun, and Russell Smith of Bay Minette; three daughters, Tammy Cooper of Bay Minette, Christy Stewart of Rabun, and Ann Williamson of Rabun; two stepsons, Billy Jarrell of Mobile and John Jarrell of Florida; four stepdaughters, Sandra Bundy of White House Fork, Sarah Jarrell of Loxley, Genice Stacey of Rabun, and Wanda Jones of Atmore; 22 grandchildren; and a sister, Mazie lee of State Line, Miss.
Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 29, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the New Providence Baptist Church with Sister Helen Stewart and Bro. Charles Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Dean Cemetery with Petty Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be Barry Demko, Bruce Bundy, Wesley Stewart, Tommy Wayne Richardson, Fred Stacey, and Earl Parker. Honorary pallbearer is Cecil Weaver.
Donnie Ray Salter
FLOMATON – Mr. Donnie Ray Salter, age 49 of Wilkerson Street Flomaton, passed away suddenly Thursday morning, Jan. 26, 2006 in Flomaton.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County, Alabama. Mr. Salter was of the Baptist faith and was a welder helper.
Survivors include: two sons, Daman Salter of Selma and Josh Salter of Flomaton; one daughter, Laura Salter of Flomaton; and two sisters, Pearl Salter McCoy of Birmingham and Ruby Salter Hale of Pensacola, Florida.
Visitation will be held tonight, Jan. 29, 2006 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton, Alabama. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 30, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Wallace Reid officiating. Interment will follow in Weaver Cemetery on Appleton Road in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
