The Escambia County Lady Blue Devils received a strong effort from two players Thursday in their Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 4A Area 1 Sub-Regional match-up with Demopolis High School.
Anushka Banks scored all seven of Lady Blue's points in the first half and finished the game with nine points. Brittany Lee added six points in the loss and ECHS head coach Christy Nall said these were the two who showed up to play.
"Anushka had a good game and Brittany had a great defensive game for us," she said. "We had no one to blame but ourselves because we didn't show up Thursday."
The Lady Blue dropped the game 54-21 in Demopolis.
Nall said the game was well played by Demopolis and they deserve to move on.
"They played with passion and heart and we didn't, it was that simple," she said. "They were a lot more physical then we had seen on tape, but we should have been ready for that."
This was a disappointing way to end the season, but Nall said she is looking towards the future.
