Assistance Needed
Dear Friend,
This letter is to inform you of the need for repairs and general upkeep necessary to maintain Mothershed Cemetery. If you have parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, other loved ones, and friends buried at Mothershed Cemetery your assistance is requested.
For several years, the upkeep, expected by all, has been lovingly maintained by Ms. Ruby Lee Lambert, her family, and a few others from time to time. Even though they plan to help keep Mothershed Cemetery maintained to a high standard, which will reflect the love and respect we have for our loved ones, help from all families is requested.
The immediate need is for fence and gate repairs. Cutting grass, edging around coping and headstones, pulling weeds, and picking up debris are on-going needs. All of this requires time and money. More help is needed to accomplish these tasks.
In the past, a cemetery advisory board was established, but that was over 15 years ago and two of the original members have passed away. We would like for the families that are interested in keeping our cemetery clean and well maintained to show their support by attending a meeting to elect a cemetery advisory board. The cemetery advisory board should consist of a chairman, secretary, and treasurer.
Your assistance is requested in locating any families who have loved ones buried at Mothershed Cemetery. You are invited to attend the first planning meeting on Saturday, March 4, 2006, at 10 a.m. in the conference room at the Atmore Public Library, located at 700 East Church Street.
Please contact us and let us know your thoughts, recommendations, and how you can assist. If you would like to make a monetary contribution now, please mail to Susanne Sirmon, 2212 Smith Dairy Road, Atmore, AL 36502.
Sincerely,
Susanne (Woods) Sirmon
