The Atmore Area YMCA will be helping a local Atmore recreation group this spring. The Y will assist with this year's Atmore Tee-Ball League, but there will be no changes to the current program.
"It will continue to run how it has in the past, the kids will stay the same and draft day will stay the same," Ross Terry, the facilities director and sports programs director for the Y, said. "All we are doing is helping with the managerial paper work."
Terry said Ronnie Huskey and Kevin Snow have been doing a great job with the program, but they have taken on some other projects and the Y will be helping them out.
"They asked us to help because they know that is what we do best," Y branch director Tammy Graham said. "And if you want your kids to play in the Atmore league then you need to go sign them up here at the Y. And volunteers to help coach or do anything else are always welcome."
Registration for the tee-ball league will run through March 3 and the Y is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Terry said there would be a registration and tryout day March 4 at Heritage Park beginning at 9 a.m.
The Atmore league is for children ages 5-7.
This is the last chance to register for the Atmore Tee-Ball League and the tryouts will be for any new participants with the player draft following tryouts.
The Atmore Tee-Ball League is a Cal Ripken affiliated baseball program.
The Y will also have its own 3-5-year-old tee-ball league in the springtime. Registration for this league will be from March 6-24 at the Y.
