Floyd English
ATMORE – Mr. Floyd English, 55, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Atmore Community Hospital. He was a native and a resident of Atmore.
Mr. English was a 1968 graduate of Escambia County Training School in Atmore. He graduated from Faulkner College in Bay Minette and Jefferson Davis in Brewton. He was currently enrolled in the University of South Alabama in Mobile and was working in construction as masonry. He also served in the United States Army.
His wife, Gloria English, and his parents, Fletcher and Ethel Mae English, preceded him in death.
He is survived by three daughters, Shanta (Leonard) Pruitt-Cabble of Moss Point, Miss; Robyn (Brent) Sears of Jacksonville, Fl., and Shadiamore Harris of Atmore; one son, Victor Jordan of Cedar Rapid, Iowa; three stepsons, Fredrick Etheridge, Gregory Etheridge and Charles Payton all of Euchid, Ohio; one sister, Catherine L. (Walter) Jones of New London, Conn.; three brothers, Joe Calhorn of Frisco City, Larry Fentress of Willingboro, N.J., and R. Algerson Seals of Mobile; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Greater Mount Triumph Baptist Church in Atmore. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Atmore. Public viewing will be Friday, March 10, 2006 from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the chapel. Family will receive friends on Friday, March 10, 2006 at Turner Funeral Home Chapel. Turner Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Harold Hurst
FAIRHOPE – Harold Hurst born on Sept. 1, 1920, passed away on March 6, 2006. He was 85 years old. Hurst was born and reared in Florence, Ala., of Lauderdale County.
Hurst was a resident of Fairhope and a member of Fairhope United Methodist Church.
Hurst is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Crook Hurst. Survivors include his sister, Martha Hurst Payne, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews.
Hurst retired from Federal service work, which began at Brookley Field in 1942. He was a World War II Veteran in the Army Air Corp.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at 2 p.m. in Oak Hill cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Cook officiating. Interment followed. Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.
James North
ATMORE – Mr. James North, 67 of Atmore died on Sunday, March 5, 2006 at North Baldwin Hospital in Bay Minette. Services are to be announced by Turner Funeral Chapel.
