There is never a lack of crackers at David's Catfish House and now all those crackers are going to be used to help people in need.
The 17 members of Youth Leadership Atmore are sponsoring "Crackers for a Cause" March 20 at David's. Anyone who walks through the doors at David's from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and wants to participate in "Crackers for a Cause" can purchase a meal and enjoy the entertainment from local talent.
However, the meal will be crackers and water and the money that would pay for the meal will be considered a donation. The proceeds from the event will be used to purchase new books for the local school libraries.
"I really hope people come out and support their local schools," YLA member Melissa Moore said. "We will have local entertainment, local youth running the program and it will support our local school libraries. It would be great to see a lot of people in here Monday night. Just come on and have a good time."
Moore said she wants to see a lot of people at the event.
"Everyone bring their families and have a blast," Moore said. "The more people we get out here the better it will be."
David's will supply the crackers and water, Audio Plus will supply any electronic equipment needed for the evening and Pepsi has donated some signs for Youth Leadership to hang around town, Moore said.
Moore said the entertainment is not set for the event, but they will have someone by Monday.
For the members of Youth Leadership Atmore this project will fulfill the good works project requirement to graduate from the program.
So for everyone craving some Captain's Wafers go on over to David's Catfish House March 20 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
