Escambia County High School football head coach Kyle Davis has big plans for the months of April and May.
Davis said the fun would start on Saturday, April 22. In what he is calling the "Night of Champions" the football team will put on a weightlifting display for anyone in attendance to witness.
"We want to show everyone how much stronger these guys are from last year," Davis said.
The display will include the football players showcasing their skills in the power clean, bench press and squat disciplines.
The following Monday, April 24, spring practice will kick into gear for the Blue Devils and will run until the end of school. Practice will take place from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
The first test of the strength and conditioning work will come in the form of the Blue vs. White scrimmage game on May 5. The game will be at 7 p.m. and admission will be $5.
On May 12, Big Blue will travel to Wetumpka for a spring jamboree against Wetumpka and Anniston High Schools.
To raise money for the program, the Blue Devils will host a two-man scramble golf tournament at the Atmore Country Club May 19. Cost for the event is $100 per team.
Davis said door prizes will be available and trophies will be awarded to the first, second and third place teams. Food will also be available at the function.
Davis said he is excited to get spring football up and running and more information will be available as the events approach.
