Julius Lee Butler
ATMORE – Julius Butler, 70 of Atmore died on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at Mobile Infirmary. He was a native of Atmore and a resident of Whistler for many years.
Butler was a graduate of Escambia County Training School in 1953 in Atmore and retired from the U.S. Army where he served in the Vietnam and Korean War. He received a purple heart.
His parents, Will and Minnie Butler; a son, Efrem Z. Butler; brothers, Archie Butler and Joe Louis Price and sisters, Gloria Stein McCall and Dorothy Thomas, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Ruth Butler of Anniston; two daughters, Carolina M. Butler of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Treasa R. Butler of Anniston; two sons, William K. (Sonya) Butler and Julius L. Butler Jr, both of Anniston; six sisters, Willie Pearl Owens of Thomasville, Annie Johnson of Atmore, Deloris Robinson, Carol (William) James and Amy Louise Price all of Mobile and Mary Price of Brooklyn, NY; one brother, Pat (Lizzie) Price of Brooklyn, NY; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 2:30 p.m., at Jones Street Holiness Church in Atmore with the Bishop Willie L. Williams officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Atmore. Turner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Archie Elliott Peacock
MONROEVILLE – Mr. Archie Elliott Peacock, 51 died on March 24, 2006 at his residence in Monroeville.
He was a native of Mobile, was raised in Atmore and resided in Monroe County for the past 23 years. Mr. Peacock worked as an electrician in general construction. He attended Mexia Baptist Church.
His wife, Paula Peacock of Monroeville; two sons, James Peacock and Nicholas Peacock of Monroeville; one daughter, Andria Peacock Dykes of Monroeville brother, Charles Allen Peacock of Poarch, Diane Johnson of Atmore and three grandchildren survive him.
Graveside services were held at Mexia Cemetery in Mexia, Saturday, March 25, 2006 with Rev. Bill Pruitt officiating. Monroe Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Robert Knight
ATMORE – Mr. Robert Knight, 68 of Atmore died Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Atmore Community Hospital. Christian Memorial Funeral Home will announce arrangements.
Robert E. Henderson
ATMORE – Mr. Robert E. Henderson, 79 passed away Saturday, March 18, 2006 at Atmore Community Hospital. He was a native of Uriah and a resident of Atmore for many years
He was a member of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Atmore where he was a deacon. He worked as a chemical operator at Monsanto.
His parents, Milton Henderson and Lela Bell Henderson and his wife, Geraldine Henderson, preceded him in death.
He is survived by six daughters, Betty Singleton of Houston, Texas, Demarche Lee of Los Angeles, Calif., Sharon (Rufus) Parks of Grenada Hills, Calif., Erika (Kenneth) Lykes, Michele Henderson, and Satoria Henderson of Atmore; two sons, Robert (Audria) Henderson Jr of Detroit, Mich., and Quamon Henderson of Atmore; three sisters, Emma Harris, Betty Hall, Rose Mary (Charles) Tibbs all of Pensacola, Fla.; three brothers, Johnny (Lula) Calhoun of Palmetto, Fla., Nathaniel (Barbara) Calhoun and James (Carrie) Calhoun both of Pensacola, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Faith Temple COGIC Church in Atmore with Rev. Johnny Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Atmore. Turner Funeral Chapel was in charge of all arrangements.
Verlion Roberts
RABUN – Mr. Verlion Roberts, age 70, of Rabun, died Thursday, March 23, 2006 at a Mobile hospital.
Mr. Roberts was a native and lifelong resident of Rabun, he was of the Holiness faith and a son Timothy Verlion Roberts preceded him in death.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Roberts of Rabun; four sons, Timothy Shawn Roberts of Rabun, Terry Roberts of Pinegrove, Billy Joseph Floyd, and Anthony Wayne Floyd both of Bay Minette; three daughters, Karen Roberts of Stapleton, Patricia (Cissy) Boutwell of Stockton, Christy Bradley of Repton; three brothers, Buster Roberts of Lottie, Wesley Roberts of Rabun, Larry Roberts of Robertsdale; four sisters, Gladys Cooper of Rabun, Joyce Henry of Mill Port, Linda Boyington of Stapleton, Ruth Adams of Bay Minette; twelve grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 27, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Dean's Holiness Church with Sister Helen Stewart and Bro. Danny Ray Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the New Providence Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel directing. Mr. Roberts will lie in state at Dean's Church from 4 p.m. Sunday until funeral time Monday. Pallbearers will be Dale Roberts, Roger Paul, Gene Milsted, Curtis Joiner, Randy Joiner and Mike Williams.
