Thank you, thank you, thank you to the citizens of Atmore for supporting YOUR library.
The Friends of the Library drive began March 1 and many of you have contributed. I would absolutely love to mention each of your names but for fear I would omit one I won't. A bulletin board on the first floor displays each person's name that has contributed for 2006.
Your support has helped provide the following:
Matching funds for federal grants; Much needed books and audio books for the children's department; desks, book displays, chairs etc.; computer; printer and entertainers for Summer Reading Program
These are just a few of the things your donations have provided.
A special thanks to the Friends of the Library Board members: Sherry Digmon, Magaline Marshall, Bess Maxwell, Mary Grissett, Myrna Monroe, Julie Johnson, Joanne Moore and Sandra Hiebert. Each year they send hundreds of letters out requesting your support of the library.
If you need us please come by or give us a call. We will try our best to take care of your library requests. We're open to suggestions so please share them with us.
Computer classes are still going on. If you need help in basic computer knowledge, Internet, Alabama Virtual Library, E-mail, Microsoft Word or Excel please call for an appointment.
We accept books, audio books and videos in good condition either for our shelves or sale table.
Cathy McKinley is director of the Atmore Public Library.
