Library Board meets Thursday

The Atmore Public Library is having a Board meeting on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 4 p.m.
The public is invited.
BOE meeting slated Thursday at 4:30
The next regular board meeting for the Escambia County School Board is scheduled for Thursday, April 27 at 4:30 p.m. at the Brewton Central Office.
Atmore's Picking Up Saturday 8 a.m.
The Leadership Class of 2006 is encouraging area residents and businesses to organize teams to participate in the Atmore's Picking Up campaign, which will kick off at 8:30 a.m. on April 29 at city hall. Cleanup teams are asked to be there at 8 a.m. for staging.
The project will focus on roadside and median cleanup down Hwy. 31 and Hwy. 21 through Atmore, but residents are also encouraged to cleanup around their homes and neighborhoods. There will be trash stations setup across from city hall in the vacant lot where the farmer's was located where residents can dispose of their trash.
The clean up will be held rain or shine.

Gospel singing at Canoe Baptist
Canoe Baptist and United Methodist Church are having a gospel singing featuring Caleb Dennis and Alan Sibley on Sunday, April 30 at 5 p.m. at Canoe Baptist Church located on Highway 31 five miles east of Atmore. A love offering is being taken.
Southern Heritage to perform Sunday
Rose Gilley and Southern Heritage will be performing Sunday, April 30 beginning at 6 p.m. at Cora Baptist Church in Jay, Fla. Contact Rev. Joel Hunt for more information at 850-675-4264.
Calvary Deliverance will host singing
Calvary Deliverance Temple will have a gospel singing featuring Caleb Dennis and Allen Sibley April 28, at 7 p.m.
Christian Care needs your help
The Atmore Area Christian Care ministry provided food for 42 people last week. The following items are needed in stock: chicken and dumplings, pork and beans, macaroni and cheese, ravioli and spaghetti, Jell-O, peanut butter and jelly and any canned fruit.
Volunteers to work are always welcome.
Freemanville parent banquet Friday
The parents of Freemanville Headstart children are welcome to attend a parent banquet held by the Freemanville Headstart parent committee Friday, April 28, 2006 at 7 p.m. The banquet will be held at Antioch Baptist Church located on 176 Antioch Road in Freemanville. Mr. Louie Turner, III will be the guest speaker.
Huxford to hold K-5 registration Friday
Kindergarten registration will be held at Huxford Elementary School Friday, April 28, 2006, 8:00 am until 11:00 am. Children must turn five years old on or before September 1, 2006. Parents must bring certified birth certificate, social security card and blue immunization card. Child must also be present when registering.
Pet photos offered during Mayfest
The Region's Bank and Chuck Stevens Relay for Life team will be taking pictures of pets and their owners at Mayfest on May 6. Winners of the March Winds Pet Rally held earlier will receive a free 4x 6 picture. All other pictures offered are a 4 x 6 for $4, two wallets for $4, a 5 x7 for $5, an 8 x 10 for $10 or a package including one of each for $20. Money is due that day and pictures can be picked up at Regions Bank on May 16. Call Angela or Katie at 368-4500 for more information.
American Legion line dancing lessons
The American Legion line dancing classes will now meet on Thursday nights at 5 p.m. instead of Monday and Thursdays. The lessons are open to the public and cost $2 per person.
Republican party county tour Friday
The Alabama Republican Party's 67 County Tour will stop for a rally April 28 at 7 p.m. at the Creek Indian Family Restaurant in Atmore.
Chairman Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh will be the guest speaker. Statewide and local Republican candidates will also speak at the rally.

Ladies of Liberty to host women's day
The ladies of Liberty Church at 200 3rd Avenue in Atmore are hosting a day of worship, the Word and fellowship for Ladies to be held on Saturday, May 6 from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Guest speakers will be Rev. Blanche Cunningham of Glory Tabernacle and Rev. Mary Sanders of Restoration Ministry's Ellerslie, Ga. There will be special music and lunch provided.
