Letter to the Editor
Thank you. On behalf of the Relay for Life teams and the American Cancer society, thank you. On Saturday, we held our Relay for Life Finale at Heritage Park and to say it was a success would be a giant understatement.
Our financial goal this year was $70,000 and as of midnight Saturday night we had raised $91,621.87. I can't tell you how good that is except to compare it to the other Relays in our area. In Escambia County, one Relay had a goal of $65,000 and raised $52,000. The other had a goal of $23,000 and raised $14,000.
The amount of money raised was fantastic but it was the increased involvement by the teams that made me feel the best. Our teams and sponsors were outstanding. I could not have been any prouder of them. The new projects, the BIG projects, and the FUN projects were unbelievable.
As we wrapped up this year's Relay all the teams were saying "NEXT YEAR." As Event Chairman, I want to thank everyone involved in this year's Relay and say, "get your team ready now for next year."
