Molino man killed in auto accident
Mark Kunkel, 21, of Molino, Fla., died Friday morning at West Florida Hospital from injuries he sustained in an three-car accident earlier that morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Kunkel was driving a 2005 Chevy car northbound on State Road 95 in McDavid, Fla., when he tried to turn onto Cotton Lake Road just after 1:30 a.m.
Kunkel struck a vehicle driven by 41-year-old George Curtis. A third vehicle, driven by 31-year-old Shoua Yang of Tennessee, crashed into the wreckage moments later.
Kunkel was airlifted to West Florida Hospital in critical condition where he later died.
The accident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Kunkel has relatives in the Oak Grove, Fla., area including his younger brother.
Bonner staffer in Atmore Wednesday
A staff member from the office of U.S. Representative Jo Bonner (R-AL) will be making a stop in Atmore Wednesday, June 28.The representative will be available at Atmore City Hall between 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.
Christian Care needs food items
Atmore Area Christian Care gave food to 60 people last week. They are short on the following food items: Self Rising flour, Self Rising meal, chicken and dumplings and Treet.
Commission slated to meet June 26
The Escambia County Commission will conduct an adjourned regular session on Monday, June 26, 2006 at 9 a.m. in the County Commission Chambers, Room 201 at the Escambia County Courthouse
Tax help for elderly offered on June 28
Escambia County RSVP will have volunteers available to provide free assistance to those who have not completed their tax returns, are filing extensions, received a rejection, or need to file taxes from 2003 and 2004.
Services will be provided Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Starting Wednesday, June 28, 2006 and going until Tuesday, August 15, 2006.
In the Commission Board Room of the Brewton Courthouse.
Assistance will be given by appointments only.
