Holman death row inmate died July 9
Alabama death row inmate Randy Turpin Bell, born March 15, 1955, died Sunday, July 9, 2006 at the Holman Correctional Facility. The time of death of is estimated at 9:50 p.m.
Bell had been moved to the health care unit at Holman when he passed of apparent natural causes.
As a matter of procedure, the Investigation and Intelligence division of ADOC will conduct an investigation into the death. The body has been turned over to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Mobile.
Bell was convicted of the 1981 capital murder of Charles Mims and sentenced to death on May 5, 1983, spending a total of 23 years, two months, and three days on death row.
Fiddler's to gather Saturday July 15
The 47th annual Fiddler's Convention will be held at E.C.H.S Saturday, July 15. Doors open at 2 p.m.
Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Infants are admitted for free.
Red Cross meets today at David's
The West Escambia Chapter of the American Red Cross will meet at 12:00 p.m. on July 12, 2006 at Davis's Catfish House. We will be having a Dutch Treat Lunch.
Utilities board will be testing tests
The Atmore Utilities Board will be conducting smoke testing for sewer leaks in the northwest quadrant. This includes north of Nashville Ave. and west of Main St.
Special meeting of commission July 14
Please take notice that the Escambia County Commission will conduct a special called meeting on Friday, 14, 2006, at 9:00 a.m. for the purpose of discussion and consideration of staffing at the Escambia County Detention Center.
E.W.M.S. booster club to meet
Ernest Ward Middle School Booster Club will have a meeting on July 17, 2006, at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. All members please attend.
Revival set to begin July 16 – 19
The Atmore Church of God, 90 Jack Springs Rd., will be in revival from July 16, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. through July 19, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Evangelist Scott Burkhalter will be the guest speaker.
