Benefit for injured Walnut Hill man
A benefit will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Aug. 12 at the Walnut Hill, Fla. Ruritan Club for Melvin Lutzi.
Lutzi fell from a roof he was working on and fractured four of his vertebrae.
There will be fish and chicken served.
Atmore Library hosting movie night
The Atmore Public Library will be showing the movie "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" on Thursday, Aug. 3.
The movie will last approximately two hours. Ages 16 &older are invited to attend.
The first 30 adults will be able to attend so you must call and register before Aug. 3. We ask that if you are attending the movie arrive a few minutes early so we can start the movie at 6 p.m.

F.U.M.C. to hold VBS July 23-27
First United Methodist Church will begin the Adventure of the Treasure Seeker Vacation Bible School on Sunday evening July 23 until Thursday July 27 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a snack supper provided each day at 5:30 p.m. Call 369-0585 for more information.
Rachel Patterson open house Aug. 9
Rachel Patterson Elementary School will hold open house/meet &greet on Aug. 9, at 2 p.m. for first and second grade students and parents. Students can bring their school supplies at this time. Parents are encouraged to join our PTO at this time.
Kindergarten orientation will he held Aug. 10, at 9:30 a.m. This is a full day for first and second graders. Kindergarten students will meet their teachers at this time. The first full day of school for kindergarten is Aug. 11.
Parents of new students are encouraged to register their children for the new school year as soon as possible. Appropriate papers, such as Social Security card, copy of the student's birth certificate, and immunization record are required.
Martinville Baptist 5th Sunday singing
Rev. Sonny Willingham and the Congregation of Martinville Baptist Church cordially invite everyone to a 5th Sunday Singing featuring the Gloryland Singers.
The singing will be held at 6 p.m.m on July 30 and will feature local singers and musicians sharing their music ministry.
From Atmore, take Hwy. 21 north, go right on Martinville Loop or Martinville Circle road and the church is on the right.

Bonner staff to visit Atmore Tuesday
A staff member from the office of U.S. Representative Jo Bonner (R-AL) will be making two stops in Escambia County on Tuesday, July 25, 2006. The purpose of these visits is to meet with any constituents who may be experiencing difficulties with the federal government and who are seeking the congressman's assistance in resolving these problems.
The representative will be available at Brewton Town Hall between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. and at Atmore City Hall between 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.
"I certainly hope anyone experiencing problems with the federal government will take the opportunity to come meet with my staff," Bonner said. "I want to do all I can to be of assistance and hope the public won't hesitate to contact me whenever they need any help."

Gloryland singers to perform July 30
Martinville Baptist Church will be hosting a fifth Sunday singing featuring the Gloryland Singers at 6 p.m. on July 30, 2006 Local singers and musicians are also welcome to join in.

Revival at W.H.N.L.F. from July 30 – Aug. 3
Walnut Hill New Life Fellowship will be holding revival beginning July 30 at 6:30 p.m. and will continue through Aug. 3 with services being held at 7 p.m.
The evangelist will be Dr. David Talbert.
Freshman orientation slated for NHS Aug. 3
Northview High School will hold ninth grade and new student orientation at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 3, 2006 in the theater.
The tenth through twelfth grade students may pick up their schedules on Aug. 3, 2006 between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Beginning computer class at Reid State
Reid State will offer a beginning computer course, which will be held on Tuesday evenings beginning July 25, 2006. The eight-week course will end Sept. 12 and will meet from 6 p.m.until 8 p.m. The tuition cost is $50 and book charge is $12.

Community Action Agency is making LIHEAP appointments for assistance with electric bills on a first come first serve basis.
For an appointment call your local agency at (251) 867-4759 in Brewton for Escambia County, Ala.
The following items will be needed per household member: social security number; date of birth;proof of income from previous month; electric bill; proof of allowance or check amount if in public housing or Section 8 housing.
