The first day of practice is normally a big deal and something to get excited about. Well, the Northview Chiefs' football team had their excitement dampened by the steady downfall of rain on their opening day of practice July 31.
But NHS head coach Cody Keene said the practice went well even with the weather being uncooperative.
"We had a good first day," Keene said. "I could tell these guys have been working hard in the off-season to get better. I am looking forward to good things from this group when the season starts."
As Mother Nature unleashed on the Chiefs the team went through drills as if it was any normal first day of practice. The team was not in pads, but the excitement of starting the season filled the air.
As all the team ran through their drills, the coaches' whistles and instruction could be heard through the constant noise of the rain hitting the bleacher seats.
The Chiefs can put the pads on tomorrow and the season begins August 25 on the road against Bozeman Learning Center.
