J.C. Dortch
BRATT – Mr. J.C. Dortch, 83 of Bratt, Fla., died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006 at his residence. He was a retired maintenance pipe fitter with Champion, born in Clark County, Ala., on June 11, 1923 to the late James Clarence and Medie Sheffield Dortch.
Mr. Dortch was a F.W.B. ordained minister for 20 years, a member of First Baptist Church of Bratt, served in WWII. During WWII he performed duties in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany, also he was a member of the local union 1561 for 40 years.
Survivors are: his wife, Martez G. Dortch of Bratt, Fla.; four sons: Randy Dortch and wife, April Sue of Bratt, Fla., Billy G. Dortch of Cantonment, Fla., Mark Dortch and wife, Sheila of Bratt, Fla., Tim Dortch and wife, Gabby of Nokomis, Fla.; two daughters: June Valienzuela and husband, Reberto of Wheat Ridge, Colo., and Kristy Gibson and husband, Steve of Bratt, Fla.; one sister, Cora McElhaney of Cantonment, Fla.; sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006 at 10 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marcus Caraway officiating. Interment followed in Godwin Cemetery in Bratt, Fla.
Active pallbearers were: Jody Dortch, Adam Dortch, Brandon Dortch, Bradley Dortch, Caleb Dortch and Steve Albritton. Honorary pallbearers were the Bratt First Baptist Men's Sunday school class.
Family received friends, Friday evening, Aug. 11, 2006 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
