This Friday in Bratt, Fla., two undefeated football teams will play when Freeport High School travels to face the Northview Chiefs. Both teams are 2-0 and NHS head coach Cody Keene said it should turn out to be a good game.
"They have 14 seniors and that concerns me because of the leadership that comes with being a senior," Keene said. "We have to do a good job of execution and we should win the game."
Keene said the 36-14 victory over Sneads last Friday was good, but the Chiefs still did not do everything their coach wanted them to.
"We need to try and be more physical this week because we are still not where we need to be," he said. "If we carry out our assignments and we are physical we will give ourselves a shot to win."
And the excitement to play in front of the home crowd is another factor Keene will use to his advantage.
"This is our first home game after two long road trips, so I expect the kids to be excited to play at home," he said. "And we need a packed crowd to watch these kids play. They are working so hard and all the Northview fans need to come out and see this."
The player to watch on the other side of the ball will be quarterback Lloyd Anderson, Keene said.
"He is a good, strong, tough and physical senior," Keene said. "He is their leader and he throws and runs the ball well and he is very tough to bring down. We will need to make sure we know where he is at all times."
As far as team progression goes, Keene said he is trying to work on getting some depth in certain positions. And he said Trent Freeman has stepped up for the team.
"Trent has stepped up on the offense and given Sean Little some time to breath at wide receiver," Keene said. "And that means we now only have four guys playing both ways, Nakita Myles, Desmond Hunter, John Donaldson and Deonta Davison."
Last year the Chiefs defeated Freeport 21-6 in a game they were losing 8-6 at halftime.
"We had to scrap to get back into that game," Keene said. "But last year has no bearing on this year and they are a very well-coached team and they will get after it. We will have to be ready to play."
Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
