For the second straight year John Paul Catholic High School has canceled a game against the Northview Chiefs football team. The call from John Paul head coach Matthew Olesnevich came Tuesday afternoon.
"The coach called our school and said of the 17 players on his roster, seven of them were too hurt to play against us this week," NHS head coach Cody Keene said. "So we will hopefully play the game on Oct. 20, which was supposed to be our off week."
This week was also scheduled as senior night for the Chiefs, but those festivities will occur Oct. 20 when Northview does play John Paul Catholic.
Keene said when something like this happens it is frustrating, but he said his team would move on without a hitch.
"Now we have to switch gears and get ready for our district game against South Walton," he said.
The Chiefs take on South Walton in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. Oct. 13 with a kickoff time of 7 p.m.
