James "Slick" Linam
URIAH – Mr. James "Slick" Linam, 55, passed away Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006 in Uriah.
Mr. Linam was a native of Atmore and a resident of Uriah for the past 16 years. He was Mekko of Traditional Ceremonial Grounds and preceded in death by a brother Samuel Burt Linam, Jr and a sister, Ann Muruka.
Survivors include: his wife, Emma "Peanut" Linam of Uriah; a son, Stanley and Jessica Singleton of Uriah.; two nephews as sons, Jerry Dean Blackburn of McCullough and Christopher "Ding Ding" Blackburn of Poarch; two daughters, Tracy Linam and James Green of Poarch; and JoAnn and Buddy Anderosn of Uriah; five grandchildren; a brother, William T. McGhee of Poarch; two sisters, Dora Blackburn of Poarch and Geraldine Gunn of Poarch; and a number of nieces and other nephews.
Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, 2006 at Rocky Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Pete Dunn and the Rev. Jesse Bohannon officiating.
Indian ceremonies followed at the Poarch Stomp Ground.
Jimmy Jernigan
McDAVID – Mr. Jimmy Jernigan, 49, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at a Pensacola hospital.
Mr. Jernigan was a native of Century, Fla, a resident of McDavid, Fla, for most of his life, he attended the McDavid United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his Father, Mr. Clayton Jernigan and a brother, Harold Jernigan.
Survivors include, his mother, Kitty Jernigan of McDavid, Fla; two brothers, Lee Marvin Jernigan and Alfred Jernigan, both of McDavid, Fla; and two sisters, Annette Crews of Pensacola, Fla, and Cindy and Jack McCraw of Pace, Fla.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006 at 10 a.m. at Ray's Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Robert Gandy officiating.
Visitation was held on Friday, Oct. 7, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Danny Steadham, David Steadham, Jeff Steadham, Charlie Brown, Gary Maher, and Ricky Enfinger.
Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Coleman and Donnie Coleman.
Clifford Earnest Headley
FLORIDA – Clifford Earnest Headley, 81, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. passed away Sept. 28, 2006.
Cliff was born January 19, 1925 in Tuscaloosa.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Chandler Headley, son Ron (Rita), Dan (Jackie), Angelia (Tasso) and Donna (John), 9 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, five brothers and one sister.
Cliff, Mildred and children resided in Atmore prior to moving to Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and were members of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church. Cliff worked for Atmore Office and School Supply.
The family would like to invite all friends to a memorial service on Saturday, October 14, 2006, 10 a.m. at Wright Baptist Church. Wright Baptist Church is located at 795 N. Beal Parkway, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
Casual dress is requested.
