I would like to remind everyone that October is Domestic Violence Awareness month.
There will be a candlelight vigil at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the park/gazebo downtown Brewton. If the weather is bad we will move into the Bell Chapel at the First Baptist Church.
The ceremony will last for about 45 minutes to an hour. We will remember people who have lost their lives due to domestic violence and for the ones dealing with it today.
Please please please take a few minutes and come down there with us. We have never had a vigil for this before, so it is this area's first. It would be nice to have a huge turnout. This is for anyone not just Escambia County residents.
We will start with this year's event being in Brewton but we will move it to a different location next year.
Once again, please come and show your respect. I know it is not a subject that people feel comfortable discussing but it IS a problem in our county and as a community we need to join together and work on making our area a safe place for everyone.
