Bonner staffer in Atmore today
A staff member from the office of U.S. Representative Jo Bonner (R-AL) will be making two stops in Escambia County today. The purpose of these visits is to meet with any constituents who may be experiencing difficulties with the federal government and who are seeking the congressman's assistance in resolving these problems. The representative will be available at Brewton Town Hall between 10 a.m. until and 11 a.m. and at Atmore City Hall between 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.

VFW Halloween dance this Friday
The Atmore VFW Post 7016, located at 206 W. Ashley Street, will host a Halloween dance and potluck supper from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday.
Come in costume and enjoy good dance music provided by the EXIT 54 Band. Admission is $5 per person. Door prizes will be awarded for best costumes.
Library Board meets tomorrow at 4 p.m.
The Atmore Public Library is having a Board Meeting on Thursday, Oct. 26 4 p.m.
The public is invited to attend.
"Haunted Hayride" hosted by PCI
The Poarch Creek Indians will have a "Haunted Hayride" Oct. 24, 26, and 27. Hayrides start at 7:00 p.m. at the gym. Come take a scary ride in the "Haunted Forest." Admission is $3 and concessions will be available.
Inaugural HOF tickets on sale
Tickets for the inaugural Atmore Area Hall of Fame induction ceremony are on sale now and can be purchased for $15 at The Atmore Advance, Atmore News, First National Bank &Trust or United Bank.
The ceremony is Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Atmore Area YMCA and Community Center.
Walnut Hill VFD catfish fry Nov. 4
Walnut Hill Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual catfish fry from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 4 at the Walnut Hill fire station in Walnut Hill, Fla.
Catfish fillets, grilled chicken, hush puppies, baked beans, cole slaw, homemade bread and cakes will be served. The cost of a plate will be $6.
Baked goods and arts and crafts will be available. Door prizes will be given away at 1 p.m.
There will also be a blood drive.
Everyone is invited.
Coalition meeting slated Thursday
The October Coalition meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 26 at noon at DW McMillan Hospital.
There will be sandwiches available.
County BOE meets Thursday at 4 p.m.
The Escambia County Board of Education is scheduled to meet Thursday, Oct. 26 at 4:30p.m.at the Brewton Central Office.
Bratt Elementary in need of decorations
Bratt Elementary School's Fall Fest will be held Oct. 27, and the school is in need of decorations.
If you know of anywhere the school could find pumpkins, hay bales, Indian corn, gourds or scarecrows please call the school at 327-6137
Everything can be returned to the lender Friday night after Fall Fest or Saturday morning.
War Encampment Oct. 27-28 in Atmore
War Between the States Living History Encampment will be set up on Pensacola Avenue on Friday night Oct. 27 and Saturday Oct. 28 during William's Station Day in Atmore.

Atmore Apostolic Kids Power Hour
Atmore Apostolic Church will have Kids Power Hour for children 2-10 years old at 10 a.m. on Oct. 29.
Kids Power Hour is an energetic children's church involving puppets, skits, high-energy action songs, and a Bible lesson. Kids Power Hour will be held in the church fellowship hall. This exciting children's event is usually provided on the last Sunday morning of each month. Pastor Harlan Morgan and the AAC Family invite you to bring your children to this exciting event.
New Life Fellowship homecoming Sunday
New Life Fellowship will have homecoming Oct. 29. Guest speaker will be Herman Smith with the Soldiers of the Cross. There will be a meal after the 10:45 service, so bring a covered dish.

Lighthouse Baptist fall festival Sunday
Lighthouse Baptist Church will hold a Fall Festival Oct. 28 from 10 a.m to 4p.m.
There will be a hayride, cakewalk, silent auction, Christmas bizarre, food and games. The church is located at 24960 Hwy 31. North of Flomaton near Twin Bridges. Look for signs!
Support Young Life pumpkin patch
With Williams Station Day coming this Saturday, there's no better place to purchase your pumpkin for the pumpkin carving and painting contest than Young Life's pumpkin patch located at the corner of Pensacola Avenue and School Street.
Hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.

ECHS Class of '66 reunites Saturday
Members of the Escambia County High School Class of 1966 will gather during Williams Station Day, Saturday, Oct. 28 in Atmore.
Drop by any time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to visit with former classmates and renew old friendships. Classmates should look for a tent located somewhere in the vicinity of the YMCA building, likely close to School Street.
Members can drop by the tent during the day while also enjoying the Williams Station Day festivities. Everyone is asked to return to the tent promptly at 2 p.m. for a class photo.
Anyone interested in helping man the welcome table at the tent, please call 368-3760.
Trick or Treat at ANC this Halloween
The Atmore Nursing Center will be having Safe Place Trick or Treat on Oct. 31, 2006 from 5 p.m until 6:30 p.m.
Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Council on Aging offering flu shots
The Escambia County Council on Aging will offer flu shots at the Flomaton Lions Club Community Center on Nov. 8, 2006 from 8a.m. until noon. This service is offered to residents of Escambia County Alabama. Charges are as follows: Medicare A &B: Free
HMO- Medicaid: Pay $25 and be reimbursed when you file. All others: $25
St. Robert's Catholic fall festival Nov. 4
St. Robert's Catholic Church in Atmore will have a fall festival Nov. 4, 2006 8a.m until. There will be a bake sale, white elephant sale, crafts, silent auction, and food.
Chili will be a $1.50, Pepsi is .50, whole smoked Boston Butts are $25 and Turkey Breast are $30.

Mennonite Christian Fellowship events
Mennonite Christian Fellowship, located just off of Hwy 31 (toward Bay Minette) behind Maxwell Construction, will be hosting two upcoming events.
On Sunday, Nov. 5 the church will be hosting the Amazing Grace Tour, which is a We Care prison ministry presentation including drama, video clips and ex-inmate testimonials.
The program begins at 6:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Nov. 16 the church will be hosting the music group Simple Grace. This family of eight children will give a program of inspirational music that features a variety of instruments.

American Legion's breakfast with Santa
The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary will hold breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 2

Board of Equalization, Adjustments begins
The Escambia County Board of Equalization and Adjustments will be in session beginning the week of Oct 23.

Legion Veteran's Day parade is Nov. 10
The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary of Atmore are sponsoring a Veteran's Day Parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 that will relive history for the citizens of Atmore as well as for the students most of all.
Schools in Flomaton, Atmore, Bratt, and Walnut Hill areas are being asked to participate by making floats to represent war periods. This is voluntary, but all are encouraged to be a part of this. The Legion and the Auxiliary have joined forces to offer prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.
The schools of classes participating will probably need some parental participation on this project. What a great opportunity to work with your children on such an important part of American History.
The American War periods are: The American Revolution (1775-1782), The War of 1812 (1812-1815), Mexican-American War (1846-1848), The Civil War (1861-1865), The Spanish-American War (1898-1902), World War I (1917-1918), World War II (1940-1945), The Korean War (1950-1953), Vietnam War (1964-1975), Desert Storm (1990-1991), Operation Enduring Freedom (9/11/02), Iraqi Freedom (Official combat March 20-May 1, 2003), Post conflict peace-keeping continues.

A Thanksgiving meal, sponsored by Watch Chapel, will be held at McCullough Fire Department Nov. 23 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. We invite all those in need of a good home-cooked meal and pleasant company.

Christ Temple revival Nov. 3-6 in Atmore
The Christ Temple Evangelistic Pentecostal Church, 240 Carver Ave., Atmore will hold Revival Services with Apostle/Prophet S.D. James on Friday, Nov. 3rd – Sunday, Nov. 6.
