Adrian Elaine Baxley
ATMORE – Mrs. Adrian Elaine Baxley, 60, passed away Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006 at a Pensacola hospital.
Mrs. Baxley was a native of Missoula, Mont., grew up in Oak Grove, Fla. and a resident of Atmore since 1966. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and attended the Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Vernie Liles and a daughter, Tiffany Lancaster Kircharr
Survivors include: her husband, Mike Baxley of Atmore; her daughter, Tierney Lancaster of Atmore; her granddaughter, Tessa Lancaster of Atmore; a brother, Joey and Carolyn Liles of Pensacola, Fla; and a best friend, John Taylor of Atmore.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006 at 1p.m. at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Grindle officiating.
Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation was held Monday, Oct. 23, 2006 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Hardy, Scott Liles, Malcolm Giddens, Eddie Giddens, Mike Kircharr and Sean Taylor.
Petty Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
Scott Johnson
FERNLEY, Nev. – On Oct. 8, 2006, Scott Johnson passed from this life in his home at 290 Circle Drive. Johnson was the first born of Alice Bell Longmire Johnson and Scott Johnson, who both preceded him in death. He was also known as Wade, Big Brother, S.J. and Scottie. He is survived by four siblings, Wade and Richard Johnson, Emma Thomas all of Alabama and Francis Clark of New York. He is predeceased by five siblings, Leroy and Charles of Connecticut; Mary Rhoden of New York.; Dorothy Gibson of Alabama; and Mattie Scott of California.
Married to Bessie Mae Gulley Johnson, Sept. 10, 1938, she preceded him in death. Nine children were born from this union, five sons and four daughters. He is survived by: Scott Johnson, Jr. of Alabama; Elmarease J. Hicks of Connecticut; Alice M. Gott of Ohio; Irene Romney of Connecticut; Florenzo Johnson of Indiana and Erick Johnson of Connecticut He is predeceased by three children: Vernell Graham of Ohio; Willie Lee Johnson of Connecticut and Ezekiel Johnson of New York.
He later met and married Vesta Mader Johnson; they were united on June 1, 1994, and from that union came one child, a daughter, Kennya Mader Johnson.
During his long life he had many accomplishments. He and his family left Alabama in 1943 where he was able to find employment at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York. In 1954 he and his family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, there he found employment at Republic Steele, he also owned and ran two businesses.
Johnson then moved again to New London, Conn. where he worked as a welder at General Dynamics. He later bought a dry cleaning business. In 1988, he moved to Fernley, Nev. where he retired from Mission Linen and started a business recycling aluminum cans.
Johnson leaves to mourn brother-in-laws, Clifford Thomas of Alabama and Edward Gibson of California; sister-in- laws, Juanita Johnson of Connecticut and Dorothy Johnson of Alabama; daughter-in- laws, Truby Johnson of Indiana and Mary Johnson of Alabama and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a grand and great array of beloved friends.
Services were held Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006 at 11a.m in Fernley, Nev.
Khianta DeShawn Finley
Khianta DeShawn Finley, 2 months, passed away Oct. 23, 2006 at U.S.A. Children's Hospital in Mobile.
Survivors include, mother and father, Wilfred Finely and Nicole Wiggins; grandfather, Prince Wiggins; grandmother, Sandra Finley; step grandfather, Alfred Chisolm and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and Friends.
Interment was held at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Mary America officiating.
Graveside services were Saturday at 10a.m at Fairview Cemetery.
Alonzo Brown
ATMORE – Mr. Alonzo Brown, 63, of Atmore died Oct. 26, 2006 at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope.
Arthur Cody
ATMORE – Mr. Arthur Cody, 81, of Atmore died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 at Atmore Community Hospital.
Christian Memorial Funeral Home of Atmore in charge of all arrangements.
