ECHS, Northview pep rallies Thursday
The ECHS Booster Club will host a pep rally Thursday, Nov. 9 at the field across from the high school.
The Northview High School Chiefs will also have a bonfire beginning at 5:30 p.m. in front of the baseball field.
Everyone is invited to celebrate and get ready for the playoff games Friday.
Inaugural HOF tickets on sale
Tickets for the inaugural Atmore Area Hall of Fame induction ceremony are on sale now and can be purchased for $15 at The Atmore Advance, Atmore News, First National Bank &Trust or United Bank.
The ceremony is Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Atmore Area YMCA and Community Center.
Set Free Indeed offered Thursday
Set Free Indeed is an addiction support group offered free of charge at McCullough Christian Center every Thursday night at 7 p.m.

Retirees Assoc. will meet Thursday
The regular meeting of the Escambia County Education Retirees Association (Formerly known as The Escambia County Retired Teachers Association) will be held Thursday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. at the Creek Family Restaurant.
After the meeting a Dutch treat lunch will be available.
Huxford Fire Dept. annual turkey shoot
The Huxford Fire Department will be having their annual turkey shoot on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. It will be held at the Huxford Elementary School. The cost will be $2 per shot with all the proceeds going to the Fire Department.
VFD turkey shoot in Nokomis Saturday
The Nokomis Volunteer Fire Department will be having a turkey shoot on Nov. 11 starting at 10 a.m. at the fire station located at 163 James Rd. The cost is $2 a round.

Atmore Apostolic serving lunch Sunday
Atmore Apostolic Church will serve lunch Nov. 12 at about 11:30 a.m. (upon church dismissal.) The menu will consist of roast beef, mashed potatoes with gravy, cabbage, corn, cornbread, dessert, and tea. The cost will be $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children 10 and under. Historical Society meets Nov. 20
The Atmore Historical Society will meet on Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Atmore Public Library.
Vice President/Program Chairman Sarah Hall recently announced that the program will be a 30-minute film, "Rosie the Riveter: The Alabama Connection."
Anyone interested in preserving Atmore's past for future generations is welcome to attend.
Mennonite Christian Fellowship events
Mennonite Christian Fellowship, located just off of Hwy 31 (toward Bay Minette) behind Maxwell Construction, will be hosting two upcoming events.
On Thursday, Nov. 16 the church will be hosting the music group Simple Grace. This family of eight children will give a program of inspirational music that features a variety of instruments.
The program begins at 7 p.m.
Easter Seals host reading sessions
Goodwill Easter Seals will host Family Fun with Reading at Rachel Patterson Elementary School in October and November.
There is one session remaining on Nov. 16. Classes will be from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
During the sessions there will be arts and crafts and ideas for reading at home. Refreshments will be served.

BP food drive will continue until Nov. 17
Atmore BP will be collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items for local families who may need a little extra help this holiday season.
Bring your donations by the station between Oct. 16 and Nov. 17. Records will be kept and the person who has brought the most donations will receive a $25 gift card for "free" gas.
If you know someone who needs assistance see Kristi and let her know. Boxes will be distributed the week of Nov. 20.

Thanksgiving meal offered for needy
A Thanksgiving meal, sponsored by Watch Chapel, will be held at McCullough Fire Department Nov. 23 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. We invite all those in need of a good home-cooked meal and pleasant company.

Church of the Living Christ singing Nov. 12
The Church of the Living Christ, 803 E. Craig Street, will have a gospel singing Sunday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m.
The Providentilas, from Ruth, Miss. will be the featured group. Pastor Earl Harrison and the congregation welcome everyone to attend.
Atmore Baptist Temple fall revival
Atmore Baptist Temple will be holding its Fall Revival Nov. 26 through Nov. 29, 2006. This year's revival is somewhat unique, in that, instead of featuring only one guest speaker throughout the revival, a different speaker will be featured each night. Bro. Steve Gregory, missionary with the Rock of Ages Prison Ministry, will be preaching on the 26th in both the morning and evening services. Monday evening will feature the preaching of Bro. Kevin Odom, pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Thomasville, Ga. On Tuesday night, Bro. W. A. Jarrells, pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Attalla will be the featured preacher. Wednesday night Bro. Gene Stokes, pastor of Faith Bible Church in Century, Fla. will be preaching.
On Sunday, the 26th, Sunday school will be at 10a.m. Morning worship will be at 11a.m. and Evening services will be at 6p.m. All other services will be held at 7p.m. nightly. A nursery will be provided for each service.

Providentials Quartet to perform at MCC
The Providentials Quartet from Southwest Mississippi will be in concert at McCullough Christian Center Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006 during the 10:30 a.m. service.
The Providentials have been singing Southern Gospel since 1999 and have travelled extensively proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Their many releases include "Wish You Were Here", "I'm Gonna Walk, Talk, Sing", "Joy's Gonna Come in The Morning", and "In The Savior's Hand".

Atmore S.A.I.L. Center dance slated Nov. 17
The Atmore S.A.I.L. Center will host a Senior Night Out Dance for seniors 55 and over will be held Nov. 17, 2006.
The cost of admission will be $5. The dance will be from 6:30 until.
Baptist Hill Church choir anniversary
The Baptist Hill Church Senior Choir will observe its choir anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006 at 3p.m. Guest choirs for this event will be the Jones Street Gospel Choir and the Jones Street Male Chorus of Atmore.
Guest soloist will be Mrs. Linda Carter of Atmore. The public is cordially invited to come out and witness this program and help is to lift up Jesus in songs and praises.

Trinity will provide Thanksgiving lunch
With so many social services closed on holidays, Trinity Episcopal Church will provide lunches for any member of the community in need of a hot lunch on Thanksgiving Day.
Lunches can be picked up at the parish hall, which is adjacent to the church. If the recipient doesn't have transportation, arrangements will be made for home delivery within Atmore city limits. Trinity is located on the corner of Carney and Church Streets, directly behind Bondurant Hardware.
Please call 368-8036 by Nov. 20 to have your name placed on the list to receive a traditional Thanksgiving lunch with all the trimmings.
Northview FFA alumni selling turkeys, fruit
Let the FFA Alumni from Northview help prepare your Thanksgiving meal by ordering a 10- to 12-pound fried turkey from them. The turkeys are available for pickup on Nov. 13 and Nov 22 for $20 each.
All proceeds will benefit the school's FFA program.

The Northview High School FFA organization is also taking orders for cases of fruit. The group is purchasing the fruit directly from the grower who will pack and ship the fruit directly to Bratt, Fla. from their orchard in Gracewood Groves in Vero Beach, Fla.
Orders must be made by Nov. 28. Delivery date is set for Dec. 14.
All orders containing citrus will be delivered in 2/5 and 4/5-bushel boxes, perfect for gift giving.
