On the eve of quite possibly the biggest football game in the state of Alabama, Atmore was able to help people in need. The "Blood Bowl" was held outside of United Bank Friday as the bank partnered with the Red Cross to get people to give blood.
"We wanted to combine community service with the Iron Bowl," United Bank marketing coordinator Nick Baggett said. "We wanted people to come out and pledge their allegiance to Auburn or Alabama and give blood."
Whoever gave blood was automatically entered into a drawing for either an Auburn blanket or an Alabama blanket.
Baggett said the Auburn and Alabama fans gave equally to a canned food drive earlier in the day.
"Overall the day went great and it was a pleasant surprise since we had not had the blood drive in a while."
