Chamber window decorating contest
The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the annual window decorating contest.
This year's theme is "Christmas at the Movies." Businesses who wish to participate must call the Chamber office before Dec. 7 at 368-3305 if they wish to be judged. Judging will take place on the evening of Dec. 8.
Please use white lights in your decorations.
Thanksgiving meal cancelled at MFD
The Thanksgiving meal at the McCullough Fire Department has been cancelled due to lack of participation.
Gospel Temple plans anniversary
The Gospel Temple No. 2 church family will be celebrating their 4th year Church Anniversary Nov. 22-24 at 7:30p.m. nightly and climaxing Sunday, Nov. 26 at 3p.m.
The theme will be "A Consecrated Dwelling Place."
The Wednesday night speaker will be Pastor Darlene McMillian of Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church in Atmore.
The Thursday night speaker will be Bishop C.P. Andrews of New Hope Pentecostal Church, INC. in Lower Peachtree.
The Friday night speaker will be Elder Shawon Salter of Light of the World A.O.H. Church of God, INC. of Pensacola, Fla.
Sunday speaker will be Pastor Catherine Parks of Unity Pentecostal Church of God in Crestview, Fla.
Watchmen United revival Nov. 27
Watchmen United will host a revival at Mt. Olive Baptist Church from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1, 2006 at 7p.m.
Rev. Monroe Tucker and President Bishop Pervis McMillian invite everyone to come.
American Legion's Santa breakfast
The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary will hold breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 2.
To be eligible, you must have children of an active duty military person who will not be able to be home for Christmas

Oak Grove hosting potluck dinner
Oak Grove residents are encouraged to attend the annual potluck holiday dinner/ business meeting at 6p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4 at the Oak Grove Community Center.
Southern Family Market food drive
Southern Family Markets Launch it's Second Annual "Family to Family" Food Drive to benefit local food banks.
Southern Family Markets announced that they will launch their "Family to Family" holiday food drive campaign. The "Family to Family" food drive focuses local attention on the severe problems of domestic hunger and its impact on families and children. It also helps build up depleted reserves at local food banks immediately after the holidays.
We know that our customers are living a busy lifestyle balancing family and work, time and money. Thanks to the simplicity of the "Family to Family" campaign, during the holidays, it will be easy for customers to stop by their local Southern Family Markets supermarket, purchase a $5 grocery bag full of food and drop the bag in the bin located at the front of the store. Local food banks will then pick them up and deliver your donations to local families in the community.
This program is a holiday program that began Nov. 12 and continues through Dec. 30. Customers can make a difference this holiday season by giving from their family to a family in need.
Based in Birmingham, Ala. Southern Family Markets currently operates 56 supermarkets in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
Atmore Baptist Temple fall revival
Atmore Baptist Temple will be holding its Fall Revival Nov. 26-29. This year's revival is somewhat unique, in that, instead of featuring only one guest speaker throughout the revival, a different speaker will be featured each night. Bro. Steve Gregory, missionary with the Rock of Ages Prison Ministry, will be preaching on the 26th in both the morning and evening services.
Monday evening will feature the preaching of Bro. Kevin Odom, pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Thomasville, Ga. On Tuesday night, Bro. W. A. Jarrells, pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Attalla will be the featured preacher. Wednesday night Bro. Gene Stokes, pastor of Faith Bible Church in Century, Fla. will be preaching.
On Sunday, the 26, Sunday school will be at 10 a.m. Morning worship will be at 11a.m. and Evening services will be at 6p.m. All other services will be held at 7 p.m. nightly. A nursery will be provided for each service.
Pastor Doug Odom and the congregation of Atmore Baptist Temple extend a cordial invitation to the public to attend. The church is located at 1707 South Main Street, just below and across the street from Days Inn.

First Baptist Atmore raffling off quilt
The First Baptist Church of Atmore will be raffling two beautiful hand-made quilts have been donated for Relay for Life 2007.
A drawing will be held Dec. 20. Tickets are $5 each and are available in the church office, where you can also see the quilts.
All money will go to American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
First Baptist Atmore Christmas Choir
First Baptist Church of Atmore will have a Christmas Choir for children ages nursery through youth each Wednesday at 6:30p.m.in the Adult Choir Room.
The theme will be "A Shepherd's Story."

VFW hosts dances every Friday night
Enjoy fellowship and have fun at the Friday Nights Dances at the Atmore Area VFW Post from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.
Music is provided by the Exit 54 Band for an entrance fee of $5 per person. "Potluck" finger food or supper is shared occasionally as are varying programs announced ad posted within the Post.
The VFW Post is located one block off Trammell Street at 206 West Ashley Street in Atmore.
Relay for Life pageant Jan. 20
"Kings and Queens of Hope Pageant", a Relay for Life Fund Raiser is to be held Saturday, Jan. 20th at 2p.m. at Escambia County High School Auditorium. Open to all area children (boys and girls) ages 0-19 years.
Enrollment fees are $50 for the first child and $25 for each additional sibling. Pre-registration will be held at Heritage Park in Atmore on Saturday, Dec. 2nd from 9a.m. to 11a.m.
All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
